@UEFA Elite Youth Player Development Programme – First Consulting Visit at Deutscher Fußball-Bund (@DFB_Team_EN ) 🇩🇪

Great days at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt and at @borussia , all centred around one mission: giving every talent a chance to be seen and grow.

As part of the UEFA Elite Youth Player Development Programme (EYPDP), I worked with the German Football Federation on goalkeeper talent identification and development, and on the pathways guiding players from grassroots to elite level through the Trainingsphilosophie Deutschland.

What stood out most was the DFB’s systematic and forward-thinking talent development scheme in the “golden age of learning”:

- 340 DFB Base Camps supporting 14,000 talents (U12–U15) with 1,200 coaches

- A nationwide training dialogue reaching 6,200 coaches from 3,200 clubs

- Regular sportmotoric performance testing and an innovative GK coordination test battery developed with the University of Tübingen , designed to identify both “screaming talents” (obvious potential) and “whispering talents” (hidden gems)

It was impressive to see how Germany aligns its structures across youth development, education, talent promotion, academies, elite schools and player transitions. All of this reflects the ambition behind “back to worldclass”, developing more and better homegrown talents for elite professional level and the national team.

A special moment was attending the successful UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 draw at the DFB headquarters, a reminder of how closely youth pathways and the top levels of our sport are connected.

Very happy to share that I'm joining @UEFA Football Development as a Consultant for the Elite Youth Player Development Programme.

lil be working with UEFA member associations to assess and strengthen youth development standards, conducting site visits, evaluating methodologies and initiatives, and providing strategic recommendations to create world-class player pathways from grassroots to elite level.

This opportunity allows me to combine my experience as an international footballer and my education to help shape the next generation of European football talent.
I'm excited to work alongside some of the brightest minds in European football development.

UEFA MIP Grad'25 🎓

It's hard to believe that our UEFA Executive Master for International Players (UEFA MIP|5) has come to an end.

Our final, celebrated graduation ceremony at the @UEFA HQ In Nyon🇨🇭, held in the presence of President Aleksander Čeferin, marks the end of this chapter and the beginning of many new and exciting stories to come.

The past two years were incredible. From the outside, they might look like a straight, successful line from session to session, but it was far more demanding and transformative. The most valuable lessons weren't in the classroom; they were in the struggle in between.

It was two years of sacrifices, learning, trying, asking, and failing. It meant adapting to new environments, traveling the world, and pushing through internships; all while writing an academic dissertation.

That struggle, that beautiful chaos, is what football is all about.⚽️

And that's precisely why I'm so proud of this diploma. It reflects the transformation we went through together.

One of the most valuable gifts I can give myself is to remain curious by lifelong education and experiences, and it's even more magical when that happens at the highest level with the most inspiring colleagues in the sports sector.

A massive thank you to the @UEFA academy and partners for this incredible opportunity. Thank you to everyone who supported me and contributed to this journey. But the biggest thanks of all go to my supporting family, who were my rock throughout it all. ❤️

I'm humbled and grateful for this achievement and will keep these memories close to my heart.

📚 UEFA MIP|5 Session in Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷

Saving the best for last - learning in the land of the five-time World Cup champions.🏆

Our final UEFA MIP Executive Master session was worth every sunny minute in Rio. I leave Brazil as an even bigger fan of this iconic football nation and their people.

I’m fascinated by how this talent engine maximizes the “natural Brazilian birthright” for talent, skill, and passion. Young players from street football, futsal, and footvolley become graduates of top club academies who then shine on the world stage. This reinforced my conviction that talent development is fundamentally about environment, rather than equipment or data.

Since the 2021 Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) law empowered clubs to welcome private equity and modern governance, Brazil has seen a surge in new ownership structures and multi-club networks. Botafogo’s SAF deal with Eagle Football Holdings Ltd. is a prime example of how fresh investment is reshaping club ambitions and transfer flows.

It will be very interesting to see how the four Brazilian teams (@Palmeiras , @Botafogo , @Flamengo , @FluminenseFC ) will compete at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Overall, I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity and journey with UEFA MIP to explore the football world and broaden my own horizons.

📚UEFA MIPI5 in Bilbao 🇪🇸

We have been called for the final thesis defense (Viva Voce) for our Executive Master for International Players.

After two years of study and research, it was time to present my work in front of representatives from @UEFA Academy, @FIFPRO and the universities of @CDESLimoges and @BirkbeckUoL

I enjoyed defending my analysis and implementation of a multi-club ownership setup from a German and European perspective.

Overall, it was a rewarding experience and a steep learning curve. One final "last dance" awaits us in Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷 with our outstanding UEFA MIP|5 group before we graduate in October.

📚UEFA MIP|5 Session in Miami 🇺🇸

“The North American Model.”

We spent an enjoyable and intense week with our #UEFAacademy Academy Executive Master for International Players in Miami, Florida.🌴

As always we had excellent lectures and insights to help us understand the U.S. sports market. The foundation of their model consists of drafts, salary caps, revenue sharing, franchise ownership models, and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). This structure has created leagues where "anyone can win on any given Sunday," while building some of the world's most valuable sports properties.

Besides the comprehensive analysis of several U.S. leagues and tournaments like the @MLS , @NBA , and the #FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and the @FIFAWorldCup 2026. We also explored @Concacaf football development strategy and the challenges around FIFA transfer regulations, all hosted by @FIFAcom HQ, @InterMiamiCF , @Concacaf HQ, @NBCUTelemundo and the @miamiuniversity .

Personally, I was most fascinated by the @InterMiamiCF case 🦩, building and managing a franchise within the strictly regulated @MLS structure, while executing a sporting and business strategy around arguably the best player of all time. This created the “Lionel Messi Ripple Effect” in U.S Soccer not only financially and competitively but also culturally, combined with huge valuation growth and attention around Inter Miami CF and the Major League Soccer.

Our next stop will be in Bilbao for the Viva Voce at the Uefa @EuropaLeague Final and then the final classroom in our #MIP journey will be in Rio de Janeiro! 🇧🇷😉
