You'll end up writing less code and that's ok, it's all about delivering value and enabling others. Do it right and your org will be more successful (it can be features, better hiring, system reliability etc)
What will get you to principal is removing chaos, unblocking others, fighting for things to be built in the right order, fighting scope creep, having backbone while knowing when to delegate decision making.
@stefanisg I wouldn't. 1. A lot of traffic, good publicity. 2. It's actually true, insightful and says a lot about their staff engs. 3. Most serverless architectures out there would not benefit from that transition in the same way $$
@stefanisg I understand the market is strange atm but try not to trick companies into hiring you if you can help it. If their hiring process is such you are joining an org that reflects that and you will not enjoy working with them. Your peers would have gone through the same process.
@GergelyOrosz@nicolashagner 20/20 migrations, though, had someone play that role. Usually a staff+ engineer, we tend to wear many hats. Behind most tech programs there's an engineer playing many roles.
@GergelyOrosz@EngGuidebook If you can't ship frequently enough (regulated industries?), showcases! Minimise risk, increase quality with early feedback.
