Unfortunately, low quality, industry-funded research without any form of pre-registration is quite common in the field of tVNS. As researchers and reviewers, we should be more mindful of this and try to do better (4/5).
@OdyO11@cornu_copiae@EikoFried The idea seems to be to first establish the validity of biomarkers in 'healthy' individuals, as it avoids placing an unnecessary burden on potentially vulnerable populations. Whether this is a good strategy is up for debate, of course. (2/2)
@OdyO11@cornu_copiae@EikoFried That's a very fair question! So far, studies have predominantly focused on 'healthy' individuals, meaning that individuals with dysautonomia would be excluded from participation in these studies. (1/2)

@cornu_copiae@EikoFried Thanks for pointing this out Nils! Indeed, we had to make difficult choices on which potential biomarkers to include in the review, since there are so that have been proposed in the past. We chose the ones we felt were most often cited/used to include in the review.
