Look, I really don’t like talking politics online. It’s toxic, it’s shallow, and most of the time, just stupid.

But I need to say this.

As a Romanian, I feel ashamed of the way half this country speaks about one man. A man who decided to run only because there was no one left to stop the chair from going to an abusive “ultras leader”, which is backed by the same forces that have kept Romania at the bottom of every European statistic for the past 30 years.

I feel ashamed that in a country where nearly 50% of people are functionally illiterate, so many speak with such aggression, vulgarity, and ignorance about @NicusorDanRO.

One of the smartest people in this country being humiliated by hundreds of thousands of people just because he’s not their choice.

Some even demand that a Doctor in Mathematics from Sorbonne prove he has a high school diploma, completely ignoring the fact that the man has two international gold medals in mathematics. As if that matters less than the nonsense they choose to believe.

I can’t wait for these elections to be over. And from the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry for what you’ve had to endure.

Thank you for having the courage to run, and for trying to save a country that, at times, looks like it doesn’t even want to be saved.
