Over the years, Tuba has introduced us to a world where art transcends borders, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Some interesting facts surrounding the Marrakech Short Film Festival (MarrakechsFF):
The festival was cofounded by Ramia Beladel in 2020, during the pandemic, initially with the idea of bringing cinema back to Marrakech through outdoor screenings.
The festival is deliberately open-air and embedded in the city, rather than being confined to conventional movie theaters. The organizers describe Marrakech itself as an integral part of the festival’s identity.
What is striking about 2026, is that as President of the International Jury, Tuba will be leading a panel comprised of four women. Clearly the festival wasn’t constrained by the idea that an international film jury needed to include a man.
Tuba will actively participate in masterclasses, conversations, and roundtables- she will be leading a masterclass on craft, creativity, and commitment on September 27.
Welcoming Tuba as President of the International Jury for the 2026 edition, the festival noted, “This marks the beginning of an exciting journey together, with future collaborations already on the horizon.” Excited to see what lies ahead.
As we follow this next chapter, it will be a joy to watch Tuba at the festival. For us, her fans, she never fails to inspire.
