Partial egg consumption modifies the diagnostic performance of allergy tests to
predict DBPCFC, our latest article published in JACI in practice. Happy reading!
Hot off the press!!

Open Access: Basophil activation test as a predictor of severity and threshold of allergic reactions to egg
First author: Suzana Radulovic; corresponding author: Alexandra F. Santos

Study participants had double-blind placebo-controlled food challenge (DBPCFC) to baked egg and, if this was negative, also DBPCFC to loosely cooked egg— patients who developed allergic reactions during DBPCFC were included for analyses. No demographic or clinical features were statistically significantly different between severity or threshold groups. Basophil activation test (#BAT) was the best biomarker to identify patients who developed severe reactions or reacted to less than 0.13 g of egg protein.

#Researchdiversity is vital if we are to have representative breakthroughs and developments in healthcare, both in terms of those leading and participating in research. Here is our colleague Dr Andreina Marques-Mejias.
Very early introduction of high-dose gluten was associated with a lower prevalence of celiac disease at 3 years of age in a prespecified secondary analysis from the Enquiring About Tolerance (EAT) infant food allergy prevention trial.

Watch our nut #allergy research story on @BBCLondonNews at https://t.co/XUDnMLGM2f
Led by @broughallergy@EvelinaLondon and @GSTTnhs it found that children who were allergic to one type of nut could safely eat, on average, nine other types of nuts.
