I left Apple Watch for Garmin after my watch almost died during a half marathon.
Years and several marathons later, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 has me seriously considering switching back.
Could it finally replace my Fenix 7?

Running the Unity 5K across much of the European Athletics Champs marathon route gave me a taste of what big city races do so well: everyday runners sharing the same streets as the elites.
That connection is what Copenhagen is getting right this weekend.

Let’s be honest: parkrun’s new milestones will sell more merchandise. But they also give more people a new target and a place in the milestone T-shirt family.
I’m on 33 parkruns, so 50 still feels a little way off. Although I could buy the 10 and 25 shirts…

As a Brit, I’m obviously disappointed London missed out on the 2029 World Athletics Championships. But a world championship should be global, not return to the same major cities.
London is still benefiting from 2012. Could Nairobi create a greater legacy?
Meet our next host cities for the World Championships ‼️
Nairobi and Munich have been selected to host the 2029 and 2031 World Athletics Championships, respectively, following one of the strongest bidding processes in the history of the sport’s flagship event.

The first #UltimateChampionship felt like progress: compact, fast and athlete-focused.
Josh Kerr suggested athletes should wear sponsor kit rather than national colours. I can see how that might strengthen individual identities, but does it weaken the feeling of a championship?
The Ultimate Championship starts tonight. I’m curious whether the new format can make athletics something more people follow between the big championships.
The athletes are worth watching. The challenge is getting people to know their stories.
17,876 people finished #thebighalf yesterday, but the number that stood out to me was the 7,000 taking part through London community groups.
Big races are at their best when they genuinely feel connected to the communities whose streets they use.
Well done 👏🏾
A few weeks ago, I ran the Unity 5K through Birmingham and came away disappointed.
This weekend I got another chance to run through my home city, this time with Rocup.
No PB attempt. No pressure. Just 5K, good company and actually enjoying it.
A little bit of redemption

I used to think becoming a runner meant getting faster.
The longer I’ve done this, the more I’ve realised it’s mostly about continuing to show up, even when the run is slow, difficult or completely unremarkable.
Those ordinary miles probably changed me more than any finish line
I won a place at the New York City Marathon 2025: “that’s my one and done (for marathons)”
Got a place in the London Marathon 2026 (through the ballot): “okay, I’m gonna be two and done”
Today: Signs up for the Manchester Marathon 2027 “marathon number3, here we come”

If your big race is this month (or any month), and you’re having doubts or feeling like you are running on empty, this message is for you.

Running didn’t magically fix everything, but it gave me a reason to keep moving going.
If you’re struggling right now, please talk to someone.
Please reach out. Please try something, anything, that makes tomorrow a little lighter than today.
You’re not alone

This one hit me deeply.
I’ve had my own battles with my weight, with my mental health, with believing I was worth the effort.
