Hundreds of protesters took to San Francisco’s Ocean Beach on Saturday to create a piece of human art in response to recent fatal shootings by immigration agents in Minneapolis.

TODAY: Over 100,000 people in San Francisco took the streets against ICE today as part of the nationwide shutdown, flooding Mission Dolores Park in the Mission District, a historic Latino neighborhood.
Over 100 businesses in the Bay Area shut down for the day, and the shutdown was called by union leaders, students, and faith leaders.
In times like these, we must choose words carefully.
So with the arrest of reporter Don Lemon, I'll be thoughtful about what I say next. Trump is clearly abusing power to punish dissent and silence reporters.
And the only right word I can find to describe it is: FASCIST.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
No new funding.
Kristi Noem must RESIGN.
Greg Bovino must be FIRED.
Suspend the LAWLESS mass deportation raids nationwide NOW — ICE is no longer just deporting dangerous criminals.
Send the border patrol back to the border.
End the militarization of ICE + the sick racial profiling.
End the perverse cash incentives that are bounties to perpetrate Trump’s cruel agenda.
Require thorough, real background checks for everyone, and 2+ years of training before even setting foot in the field.
INVESTIGATE and PROSECUTE every single federal agent who is breaking the law.
You can’t detain a 5 year old child.
If a masked man grabs a kid off the street and puts him in an unmarked car… that’s kidnapping.
If that child is then sent to another state? That’s trafficking.
Language matters here.
What happened to Liam Ramos should outrage us all.
Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.
