As a VENEZUELAN living in the US, I MUST say:
1- There are plenty of mechanisms in the US to migrate LEGALLY. It’s not a RIGHT to live in the US if you are a citizen of the world. You have to EARN it! Why? Because there are US citizens that DESERVE and HAVE more rights than me and I have to RESPECT that. Taxes paid by THEM CAN’T support my dreams, because American dreams SHOULD be priority. It’s not their fault that my country is ruled by criminals that don’t care about their people. I had to flee Venezuela (as almost 1/3 of Venezuelan Population) because I didn’t have the balls to sacrifice my life to fight communism. I am more useful to society in other ways but my skills only work in free countries.
How do I earn the right to live in the best country in the world? (yes, it’s the best, that’s why I chose to come here) By being a rightful and hard working citizen that brings value to American society and make it better.
ILLEGAL immigration brings too many collaterals because you can’t tell who is coming to work and who is coming to be a criminal.
2- I don’t feel discriminated because Americans are pointing out that Venezuelan CRIMINALS that are coming into their country ILLEGALLY are a problem to their society. The only way to understand if migrants that are coming to the US have criminal intentions or not is by background check, and you can’t have that if you have an open border policy.
3- I came to the US to run away from those criminals that are coming here. I came here because in my country socialism DOESNT work. Because what made America the best country in the world was not exactly socialism. It’s meritocracy. If you are American, don’t accept to be destroyed by the cancer that has a “beautiful” speech regarding equality, but brings hate and polarization. Protect your country! Protect your culture! It made you the greatest country in the world (once). Be proud of it!
4- Not all Venezuelans are criminals. And thats obvious! There are way more hard working Venezuelans that bring value to society, than criminals. Too bad criminals are the loud ones. That’s why lawful Venezuelans NEED to address this issue and condemn it. I don’t think addressing it makes it a hated speech and I don’t blame people for generalizing towards Venezuelans… it’s not their fault, it’s the criminal’s fault. Let’s fix that by the good guys being louder about our achievements and contributions to American society. Hopefully the generalization will change eventually.
