In 1962, a newly independent Jamaica entered the global community and undertook the monumental task of nation-building. Through resilience, determination, and collective effort, we have made meaningful strides toward sustainable development, grounded in the lessons of the past and inspired by the possibilities ahead.

As the nation celebrates 63 years of Independence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade also marks 63 years of unwavering service. Established in 1962, shortly after Independence, the Ministry has remained steadfast in its mission to manage Jamaica’s international relations and advance the country’s national interests across the globe.

As we observe this moment of national pride, let us give thanks for how far we’ve come, even as we remain committed to the work that lies ahead in building the Jamaica we all envision.
