INVEST IN MANAGERS

Student managers at high majors are so valuable to the team, not only from a work standpoint but also with the energy they bring. Often times they are the ones rebounding for players and helping them get their extra work in.

I feel like the more programs can invest in their managers to grow on the development side… it will help their players maximize their extra work and also build better managers.

Sean Miller shares a masterclass on living the standard.

Then he got real about what he owes them:
"The one thing that I owe myself, I owe Xavier, I owe you, I owe this team, is this: It's the standard."

Success starts with living the standard every day. The standard is how you operate every day.

It means setting high standards and then holding yourself and others to those standards.

Then he made it clear what's in it for them:
"When you guys raise your level and you meet the standard - that's your best opportunity. That's you. Your best opportunity to play good is to meet that standard."

The standard isn't punishment - it's a reminder to live a mindset of excellence every day.

Great teams have high standards and they hold each other to those standards.

Set the Standard. Live the Standard. Then raise the standard. To become the team you know you can be.

@dhurley15 I studied something similar in 2024. Using data from the 23-24 season, I proved that there is no correlation between coaching tier and technical fouls. Coach Hurley and UConn does not receive more/less Technical fouls than other BE Teams based on his coaching style or success.
