My point is DO grads have kept the overall rate of physician matriculants stable (albeit low) relative to 1980.

Not an ideal system having parallel degree programs, but we’d be worse off without DOs

@micah_erfan DO graduates have roughly made up for this gap. They’re now a third of the number as MD graduates, and get roughly the same degree with the same license to practice. And yes, the number of graduating MDs is restricted, but it’s not the full picture
