Huge congrats to our PGY-2 resident Andrew Pless @AndrewPless on being recognized as a Gift of Life Champion 🫀👏 this is for his incredible dedication and advocacy during his ICU rotation — well deserved @UNMC_ACS
Just a new intern popping in to say after day 6 of being a doctor, I’m so so grateful to all of the nurses who are constantly helping us new docs and looking out for us. So many popped into the workroom just to hype me up and give me tips. Y’all are incredible and so appreciated.
@a_mneff I can assure you everyone feels like this. Med school is incredibly hard and you have worked incredibly hard to get there. You definitely belong. I say this not to downplay your emotions but to say you are not alone! Keep pushing and next thing you know you’ll be almost done!
one time in med school I cried after one of my patients died
I felt embarrassed for crying and ashamed for showing emotion…until I saw that my attending was crying too.
it’s ok to have feelings in medicine
When I took Step 1 (1999), it was a very hard test. Since then 1000s of new drugs/mechanisms have been discovered. All have been added to the test, nothing removed. First Aid for the Boards is now 848 pages up from about 200! When does it stop? No one can know all this stuff.
Ok but can we talk about how preposterous it is that there's a legitimate chance you could GRADUATE FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL and not get a residency spot??? A whole MD/DO??? And during a pandemic??? Expanding residency slots WHEN??????????
