@DocsWithoutJobs AAMC is following ECFMG and the money💵💵💵
AAMC is offering a subscription service for Non-US Students/Grads that will show them the tools needed to apply for residency in the US👇👇👇
Since this came up again recently, here’s your periodic reminder that that the NRMP’s Match statistics underestimate the real number of doctors who are unable to get a residency position.
(🧵)
The last 4 weeks since #match2022 have been a roller coaster of emotions, the tears just keep rolling down. Despite the tears, I am looking at ways to improve. Giving up is not an option!
#Match2023 we are in this together! #awsumpowers#imgjourney#storiesimg#IMG_advocate
@813JAFERD@FCEP Wow, with only 2,921 total PGY-1 positions #EmergencyMed is still one of the top 5 specialities with the highest number of first-year residency positions.
81 More Residency Positions in #match2022 than #match2021

@FutureFamilyDOc @UnmatchedMD AAMC needs to disclose all of its financial conflicts of interest in medical education.
1) How is AAMC funded?
2) Does it affect their role in undergraduate & graduate education?
3) Does it influence their yearly Physician Supply & Demand Report?
@monetizeddreams@jbcarmody@aribindi@AydenJacobMed All medical graduates deserve to finish their training.
Capping any future doctor in the US does not make sense in a shortage or a pandemic, or even pitting them against each other.
AAMC needs to reveal its Financial Conflicts of Interests (FCOI) for this to make sense!
@monetizeddreams@jbcarmody@aribindi@AydenJacobMed Both IMGs - US & Non-US Citizen IMGs make a great contribution to healthcare in the US.
US-Citizen IMGs take up more FM spots and don’t have to leave after residency.
But if US Citizen IMGs don’t match, they can’t practice.
SOAP had 2,000 spots for 11,000 applicants
Today I heard, by far, the best example of perseverance. A friend of mine match in Internal Medicine after the 5th attempt. 5th!! Perseverance is a quality you’re borne with, never learned! Follow your dream! Now, go get’em Tiger!! #Match2022#MedTwitter
@baxterstapleton Did you know medical students can pay over $11,000 to apply to residency and still not get a training position? Where is the money going?
Know you are worth so more than all of this.
And don't fall into the darkness I fell into. Don't isolate yourself. This system has a lot of problems, but there's always innovative ways to make meaningful change.
Tomorrow will always be brighter and definitely more colorful.
According to the AAMC, the US could see an estimated shortage of between 37,800 - 124,000 physicians by 2034
There’s less than 37,000 first-year PGY-1 Residency Positions in 2022
