@cryptoRyanTexas@jonfavs And without getting dragged deeper into this hellsite… if the result of “doing your own research” is always just making you feel better about what you already wanted to believe, the thing you’re doing isn’t research
@cryptoRyanTexas@jonfavs Look, I used to work in west Africa (not USAID related) and personally know programs this killed. Programs distributing medicine to mothers in rural communities in the region. You can argue we shouldn’t have been paying for that in the first place, but we all own the consequences
@cryptoRyanTexas@jonfavs I never post. About anything. But this is not a lie (reasonable people can argue about the methodology that produced those estimates, including you). To ignore it is disgusting. Like genuinely, in the bones, disgusting
@mattklewis Funny, when I say mixing milk and orange juice is disgusting my opinion is treated as intellectually honest. When I criticize pizza I’m basically an asshole. But I know actually I’m a genius and I will persist
@jessesingal I'm told there's a literature developing the notion of "white fragility" that might be of interest. Robin DiAngelo (https://t.co/cGGnBhP25k), dealing with racial hierarchy but the extension to patriarchy seems obvious. (for the record not saying anything about mass shootings)
@jessesingal seems intuitive that having one's superior position in a hierarchy threatened would generate a response meaningfully/interestingly different from the experience of threat in a different position within that hierarchy. haven't done a google scholar search though come back to me

@thehighsign bit pessimistic about it all though... something about repetition and messaging. bring on the beer memes, forget about Swetnick and New Haven and the spiked (non-beer) drinks and all that excessive stuff that just a regular beer guy obviously wouldn't even think of doing
@thehighsign yeah, the use of "beer" that frequently, you've got to think it's a strategic (and transparently dishonest) framing device... "look yeah I love to drink, but only beer. Seriously everyone just beer. I don't have a problem. Guys it's just beer." [paraphrasing]
@benshapiro Yes Ben, a commitment to redistribution of wealth to mitigate the downside harm of capitalism is “inherently” stupid. And the real threat America faces right now is the media coddling leftist. That is certainly where you should be focusing your time, thank you
@benshapiro Yeah. An act of protest in the form of denying basic commercial services to two people who love each other because the reality of difference terrifies you, an act of protest against doing physical and emotional violence to children. It’s a tough call
