$BURBN. Before Instagram, there was Burbn.
Burbn was a cluttered check-in product. Its own founders cut it down, renamed it, and shipped it. The name that lost was Burbn. The product that won was Instagram. $burbn is the ticker for the name that was deleted.
Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger did not sell Burbn. They threw almost all of it out, kept photo, comment, and like, and launched the remainder on 12 October 2010 as Instagram. Facebook bought that company later, on 9 April 2012, for about $1 billion. Evolution first. Sale second. The sale was of Instagram, not of the whiskey app.

Rewards to holders.
@MTSlive The Burbn-to-Instagram framing makes the tooling shift feel much more tangible. Curious which part of “Tool Era” was built with Lovable versus custom code.
```FriendStalker``` — *Named by Twitter Co-Founder Evan Williams*
In the earliest days of Twitter, co-founder Evan Williams put forward the name FriendStalker.
It is recorded in Nick Bilton’s definitive history Hatching Twitter, the most authoritative account of the company’s founding. Williams, already a proven founder after creating and selling Blogger, introduced the name during the original discussions that shaped the platform.
