Quentin Tarantino Slams Hollywood as a 'Flavorless Sausage Factory' Where 'Miscast' Actors, 'Audience Pandering or Stupid S--- Torpedos Every New Movie' https://t.co/aipbBHHTjM
@Srirachachau It was kept a secret from the cast and crew. They were told he was a real Japanese actor. Piper Laurie talks about it in her autobiography
@JonathanM_507 I’m not sure if Lillard singled him out. Personally I think Pratt turned into a bland actor with a bland voice, totally wrong for Mario (and Garfield, for those who care).
Point still being - animation should focus on talented voice actors instead of movie stars.
He’s so right. Never understood hiring movie stars with anonymous voices for animation. Very few classics have famous if even recognizable names in the voice cast.
Matthew Lillard criticized the industry for prioritizing celebrities over voice actors in animation:
“The ability to carry a film, as the lead of a film with only a voice, is a power very few people have. The idea that they keep hiring crappy celebrities to carry huge films is killing us.”
Every actor instantly said yes to Christopher Nolan’s ‘THE ODYSSEY’ except than Robert Pattinson who asked to read the script.
“You want to read it? Everyone else just said yes,’ Nolan replied.
