Typical practice across most of the country was to murder every man the next tribe over, sexually enslave the women+girls, and raise their boys as fodder.

Yes, but if you read the post you'd see they've recontextualised his persistence not as a great effort on his part but as a natural consequence of his special birth. He doesn't fight fate, he's just uniquely immune to it. It fucking sucks.
