@Bob_Helpful@DavidHollidge It’s all about the commerciality of the arrangement. What justified the overtime rate compared to the 40 hour rate? There is not a snowball’s chance in hell that would be an allowable deduction. I’m ex HMRC
@SilentMadgeScot@markthehibby Isn’t the driveway on the left hand side which is where they would have parked? The MH would then be mostly hidden by the house?
@BurnetRose08@GlenSmith174927@afneil It really went crazy during the 90’s up to the financial crash - 125% mortgages available! Going back to the 70’s, if you asked the bank for a loan to buy a car you had to put up one third of the cost yourself. That meant no bank loans for me!
@GlenSmith174927@afneil Lending by building societies included a requirement to have savings with them otherwise no loan. Alliance &Leicester would lend x10 savings. In my case that meant a loan of £1000 which would buy you nothing. You are deluded about the 70’s
@EstefanoWorth@MrBullwinky@FatimaJojiSnp Even though the actual revenues flow into the UK Treasury's general pool and fund UK-wide spending, the GERS report allows policymakers and economists to gauge the financial health of the Scottish economy and its reliance on volatile energy prices
@EstefanoWorth@MrBullwinky@FatimaJojiSnp O&G revenues are not immediately reallocated back to Scotland. These revenues go directly to the UK Treasury and are pooled into the broader UK economy. The Scottish Government is funded via the block grant, which is calculated using the Barnett formula
@swallowco1@WillForster Wrong again Bill. UK trade with the EU has grown in real terms since the end of the Brexit transition period, primarily driven by strong growth in services. Hope that isn’t too patronising for you
@swallowco1@WillForster You started the insulting comments. The UK has just signed a 3.7 billion deal with the GCC and there are about another 70 agreements worldwide. Trade with the EU has also increased since Brexit but I’m guessing you already knew that too
@GVSubramanyam7@IndiaTales7 That height needs to be explained. Where was the 2.56 measured from and to? It can’t be the height is feet were off the ground because the world record for the high jump is only 2.45 metres
@swallowco1@WillForster My comments were in the context of their proposal for a Customs Union. You brought up the single market because you didn’t know the difference. Btw a CU would be a disaster because of the effect it would have on new trade deals struck since Brexit
@Lairdysnr@NickyZog@colz261 If investigated by HMRC I can assure you they look at a lot more than 2 plane tickets. Anyone successfully doing this has just got lucky
@scots_wa_hey@NickyZog Even if they were tax resident in Spain they would still be liable to UK tax for working on the UK continental shelf so that dodge would not work
@FlatulentOne@MikeyTheBuddie That statement makes absolutely no sense. I note you don’t try and challenge the economic viability question. Probably because you don’t have an answer for the £26 billion deficit
@samhfinance Employers contribute to a pension but not an ISA. Usually a percentage of salary. Before I retired 9 years ago my employer contributed 7% and I contributed 5%. I have an ISA too which I haven’t touched yet because my pension has covered all my needs.
