Has anyone noticed that the mainstream media when referring to X, always tend to reference both X and Twitter?
For example “[person] took to Twitter (renamed X) to say”
The brand change happened a while ago. I suspect it’s not going to go away any time soon.
@PlanningShit Where is this? I know a lot of heritage buildings in Malaysia are built on top of this way. A local relative described it as a loophole in planning law that is exploited.
Pretty big story this, not reported much outside the specialist media. Council building control inspectors will not get their newly required qualifications in time, putting the system at risk of collapse
Today might have seen the biggest physics discovery of my lifetime. I don't think people fully grasp the implications of an ambient temperature / pressure superconductor. Here's how it could totally change our lives.
Knowing how to effectively use a search engine is a skill that most of us have learned over the years.
Now learning how to use ChatGPT and other AIs will be a thing to learn too.
Want to know where other people get their ideas from?
You can use ChatGPT to identify the upstream sources of someone's opinions and thoughts from their public lectures and interviews.
I recently did this with Peter Thiel's talk at Oxford. I asked ChatGPT what sources likely contributed to the ideas presented in his talk, books, articles, contemporaries and philosophers that may have influenced it.
A unique way to go direct to the primary sources of some of the most leading edge thinking in a given space. You can do it with any subject, too.
Kind of feels like going from playing catch up to running out front.
Really shocked to discover a large number of newly built homes have been sitting empty for 2 years in East London. They are leased to @LQHomesMatter. It appears that bureaucracy over which key worker / social housing tenants should get them. #socialhousing#ukhousing
Can't get it out of my head that Europe cried about a 'migrant crisis' in 2015 against 1.4m refugees fleeing war in Syria and yet quickly absorbed some 2m Ukrainians within days, complete with flags and piano music.
Europe never had a migrant crisis. It has a racism crisis.
🧵I talked with an Estonian analyst who has access to info and who I regard as one of the best we have here. His main conclusion: "The danger is far from over but there is reason for a very cautious optimism. Russian advance has clearly stalled." More below:
1/14 Whether Russians actually support the hideous war that Putin has waged against Ukraine is a matter of utmost political importance. The answer to this question will largely define Russia’s place in the history of the 21st century.
🧵My translation of the analysis of the current situation in Russia by an active FSB analyst. Buckle up for a long thread and definitely please share far & wide. The full text is over 2000 words. This is a highly insightful look behind the curtain - covers many subjects.
What are your thoughts about making it a legal requirement to publish the size of a property when listing for rent or for sale?
I get so fed up dealing with number of bedrooms - other European countries don't have this headache. Why can't the UK move with the times? #ukhousing
You'd think data on UK addresses is about as public as data can be. But accessing and using that data is still incredibly clunky.
This campaign is trying to help people put that data to good use.
We're getting behind the campaign – will you?

In this cold weather, if you’re concerned about someone sleeping rough – but it’s not an emergency situation - you can @Tell_StreetLink.
They help connect people who are sleeping rough to local services to support them. If it's an emergency, call 999.
