🐾 PAW-SITIVE PUP-DATE: OLIVE! 🐾
We rescued Olive when she was just a puppy—alone on the side of a busy road, eating trash and coming terrifyingly close to being hit by passing cars.
She was small. She was vulnerable. And she had no idea that her entire life was about to change.
We got her off that road, got her safe, fully vetted her, and made sure she found the kind of home every rescue dog deserves.
Today, Olive—who we lovingly call Ollie—is spoiled, adored, and living the happiest life. Her mom says she is still hilariously quirky and refuses to lie on her belly anywhere soft. Instead, she flips onto her back, stretches out, and lets her tongue fall right out of her mouth.
This is the ending we fight for.
But before there is a soft bed, a loving family, and a happy update, there is often an emergency. A scared animal. A vet bill. Food that needs to be purchased. A life that cannot wait for us to be financially ready.
Today is $5 Friday, and we urgently need to raise $3,000 today for the animals depending on Layla’s Heart Ranch and Rescue.
You do not have to donate exactly $5. You can donate $1, $3, $10, $25, $100—or whatever you are able to give. Every donation matters, but we need a lot of people to step forward today.
Please donate in honor of Olive. Please help us be there for the next puppy standing beside a dangerous road with nowhere else to go.
Our goal is $3,000 today. Please help us reach it.

My wonderful cousin Raquel’s 5-year-old son, Iver, has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. If you’re able to help support their family as they focus on Iver’s treatment and healing, it would mean so much. ❤️

7 years ago today, my partner strangled me while my baby slept upstairs. I learned that surviving strangulation increases the risk of being killed by over 750%.
I left that day.
I spent years waiting for someone to save us. It turned out that someone was me.
This made my heart so full!! Brings me back to why kids should be outside being kids, and yes it was tragic what happened, but the bond they made with her will last forever....and the help they now give her will last a life time that they cant learn from being inside playing video games or on their phone inside. Very happy she made it!
🚨WOW!!!
Two 13-year-old boys on a summer bike ride spotted something in a yard and turned around...
...what they was found an elderly woman who had been trapped on the ground for 16 HOURS, and they SAVED HER LIFE!!!
No phone. No water. All night in the dark.
They called 911 and saved her life, medics said that had only a few more hours gone by, she'd have been gone.
This is Fruitland, Iowa.
Gunner Skidmore and Kohen Chick, both 13, best friends.
They were pedaling toward Muscatine when Kohen said, "You see that lady back there?"
Gunner didn't, but they turned around anyway.
It took them a while to even find her, but then eventually came upon an elderly neighbor, lying in the grass.
She'd fallen feeding her horse at 5 p.m... THE DAY BEFORE.
All night on the ground.
No phone.
No water.
Covered in bugs.
She had dragged and rolled herself from the backyard to the front yard, praying somebody passing by would see her.
Somebody did. Two somebodies. On bikes.
"Hey ma'am, are you OK?"
"I need help. Call 911."
They did and the ambulance came, and she's getting the care she needs.
...but they didn't just save her life, they also made a new best friend!
Gunner's mama has been going over to feed and water that woman's horse every single day while she recovers and she brought her lasagna when she got back home.
The next generation isn't lost, folks.
Some of them are out here being the answer to an old woman's prayers on a Tuesday morning.
GOD BLESS Gunner and Kohen and God bless the parents raising kids like this.
THIS IS THE AMERICA I KNOW!!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
😭💔NYCACC killed Milo today…we all knew from his intake pics in the kennel, never outside, no videos, that they’d railroad this terrified boy to the kill room…but I was hoping…for a miracle…I’m so sorry sweetheart that you were overlooked, shut away from the rest in the pound, left to wallow in your justified fear….Run free 🌌 🌈
Remember us better than we are….
No one came….
He’s still a baby, only 2yrs old!!! he’s such a cutie pie,I don’t understand why they don’t play w/him on video? They’re not showing his best self & he’s not gonna show his best self if he doesn’t feel safe,if he doesn’t trust the people that are around him! They should cuddle him…

🚨 Last call for rottie beauty Atlas Axel, just off DOH & now under kill command. Just 2-y/o, found abandoned in a basement end of May & brought in. He is still nervous, confused & doesn't want to return to his kennel once out. Has been on walks & was neutral passing strangers & dogs. Likes tennis balls & toys. Caught kennel cough.

FROM FB:
Today, while volunteering at the shelter and walking my row of dogs, I noticed a different dog in another row sitting quietly in the corner of her kennel… shaking and trying to make herself as small as possible.
I looked at her kennel card and learned her name was Hazel and she had just been surrendered yesterday . 😭💔
I decided to go sit with her, hoping I could make her day just a little bit better.
Little did I know…
she would be the one making mine.🥹
Hazel was terrified and unsure of everyone around her. But little by little, she found the courage to take one step… then another… until she came over, kissed my face, and reminded me just how sweet she truly is.
I later learned that Hazel was surrendered because the family cat repeatedly attacked her. 🥺 And through no fault of her own, she lost the only home she knew.
Hazel is only 2 years old. She’s dog-friendly, good with kids, housebroken, and crate-trained. She has so much love to give, yet tonight she’s sleeping in a shelter kennel instead of a home.
I spent a long time with her today, holding her close and reminding her that she is a good girl… that she is loved, that she is seen, and that someone still cares about her.
Before I closed her kennel door, I made Hazel a promise..
I promised her I would share her story with the world.
And I told her that I have an incredible village of people who always show up when a dog needs them most.
Now I’m asking that village for one more favor.
Please help me keep my promise to Hazel. 🥺🙏🏻😭
Share her story. Tell your friends and family about her. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, fostering, or rescuing, please consider giving Hazel the forever home she deserves.
Let’s show Hazel that yesterday wasn’t the end of her story… it was the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. ❤️
