My 3rd tweet this year and I can’t believe the connection between them. This time about Kieran who succeeded me in @WarksFireRescue and one of the nicest guys I ever met anywhere inside or outside the Fire Service. Taken too soon doesn’t come close. RIP.
Darran was the director on my first course at the Fire Service College in 1993 and the first person to really make me think about fire service culture. He then remained a friendly and always supportive colleague. Another one who has sadly been taken much too soon. RIP.
My mentor on the Fire Service ELP, fellow @firefighters999 board member, and a predecessor @WarksFireRescue CFO. A dedicated, funny, sincere and authentic man. I’m lucky to have known what he thought, believed, and stood for. Taken far too soon. RIP Paul.
We are very saddened to announce that our Chief Fire Officer Paul M Fuller CBE passed away peacefully after a short illness, in the early hours of this morning with his family at his side.
We are in contact with his family, supporting them at this very difficult time.
A good few days spent with former @LondonFire colleagues discussing strategic command, operational leadership, culture and much more. It can be hard for busy senior leaders to make the necessary time but it is always time well spent.
Congratulations to Richard and Dominic from London Fire Brigade who completed their ICS L4 course on Friday, finishing with a simulation involving two simultaneous major incidents- fires, explosions and pollution of the Thames, with a total of sixty five pumps being deployed!!
Hard time of year for a lot of folks. Suicide Hotline 116 123 (Samaritans) A simple copy and paste might save someone's life.
Would 3 Twitter friends please copy this text and post under their own name? Pass it on…
Lovely to be asked back to @WarksFireRescue to say goodbye to my totally brilliant former PA and friend Janette Bray. She made me a better Chief, the Service a better organisation, and the county of Warwickshire a safer community. A star.
As a @firefighters999 board member I don’t suppose I should really be giving my views on how some stations are better than others. Which is a pity, as that’s what Coleshill are! A great effort for a station that doesn’t have the access and public visibility that others do.
A huge congratulations to Coleshill fire station who raised a fantastic total of £510, washing 50 vehicles at their car wash event today.
Thanks to everyone who came along to support the event and help the crew to raise much needed funds for @firefighters999 You are amazing!
In sunny Basingstoke today with the brilliant organisation that is The Firefighters Charity @firefighters999 who support all members of the fire service family - past, present and future
My great Deputy Chief Rob Moyney and I trying not to feel too small next to the soon to be @WarksFireRescue new CFO Kieran Amos. Good to have him here early for a handover and wishing him every success.
My last staton visit of my career to the @WarksFireRescue on call crew at Wellesbourne tonight. A great crew led by great officers who have successfully boosted crew strength and availability. I’m lucky to have been able to lead such a dedicated and committed group of people.
Today starts my final week in the Fire & Rescue Service. Thanks to @RBFRSofficial, @LondonFire, @Bucksfire, @LondonFire (2nd time round!) and finally @WarksFireRescue for 30 great years that have gone by so quickly. I’d do almost all of it all over again if I had the chance.
Paid a farewell visit to the always welcoming @WarksFireRescue on call crew at Bidford last night. Watch Commander Sam O’Brien and her crew have always shown me all that is positive about this essential part of the FRS
For a station that doesn’t have as prominent a location as most others in @WarksFireRescue this is brilliant. A great crew doing great things for the great charity that is @firefighters999
Coleshill firefighters clean up!
Thank you to everybody who came along to get their car washed at Coleshill fire station today. The crew had a long queue from 9.50am until 2.30pm and the support from the people of Coleshill and the surrounding areas was absolutely first class!
I know too many brilliant women across all levels in the UK Fire & Rescue Service to mention them all here within the Twitter limit so will just highlight these 3 stars from among many in @WarksFireRescue.
Much needed replacements for old @WarksFireRescue appliances. Turntable Ladders are the best aerials available - faster to deploy and much more reliable given so many years of international Fire Service pedigree. Others are industrial plant converted for Fire Service use.
Yes response times still matter. Along with “weight of attack”, the ability to scale up reliably with wider resources both standard and specialist, and having crews that are competent, confident, assertive, safe and supported. All these matter and all need to be in balance.
This time next week we'll be holding our workshop on 'Do response times still matter?' at the #LGAFireConf with @GrestonAssoc. We're looking forward to a lively discussion on the importance of attendance standards and response times in the fire and rescue service.
Nice to pay an impromptu visit to @WarksFireRescue Nuneaton today for a 10 minute chat that lasted an hour thanks to the largest cup of coffee that was cleverly provided to keep me talking. Still have some gaps to bridge between viewpoints on some things but discussion can work.
Great to see how the wonderful charity that is @firefighters999 has widened its role and reach to the service in recent years to now give psychological support to all staff. Whether Wholetime, On call, Control, Grey Book or Green Book, and their families too.

Nice to visit the on call crew at Polesworth Fire Station, the most northern station in @WarksFireRescue. Talked about a busy couple of weeks for them supporting @StaffsFire at large fires in Tamworth.
Well Trish @AduduTrish what a difference from when we spoke on @BBCCovWarks a few weeks ago. Here you’re wearing firegear you said you shouldn”t and doing things you said you couldn’t! Thanks for helping @WarksFireRescue show how you and many others can do this and join us too.
See @AduduTrish in action at our recent recruitment event, trying her hand at rescuing a casualty. If you think that you have what it takes, then why not sign up to one of our taster days. https://t.co/2xGJ9fLXpq #TeamWarks
