@Urodoc46 @apsmunro I work regularly with Al. He has a good, sound clinical mind but I think if you are unwilling to accept that clinical details offered with microbiological samples are frequently poor, you have quite a worrying lack of insight. Oh yes. And I’m a full time clinician.

@HMAnderson39 I’d argue different forms of misery. Requesting notes from off-site was like ordering from Temu. Flicking through paper notes much more satisfying and efficient than scrolling through reams of scanned notes though.

@DrLukeCraddock As a general concept I would say no. The only time perhaps is NROC. And that should count for all NROC members of the team not just consultants.

@apsmunro @Justamedstuden2 I covered 11 hospitals as a trainee. You need those miles under your belt to be able to truly assess NHS canteen fish and chips.

@Justamedstuden2 I literally missed an entire training system and it extended my training time by minimum 1 year. Now I look back, a year seems not too much. And I don’t regret taking my time in training at all. Has made me a better clinician. And you’ll learn something from every job you do.

@Justamedstuden2 Don’t get disheartened. Way back when, had a bad interview and ended up doing 6 m as a PRHO and then joined the then new F1 programme. NW Thames ranked me in the bottom three (not Imperial lost you 1/3 marks despite being an actual practicing doctor).

@mrc7cam @mttjon @DanNeidle Yes- I think a seldom discussed facet in the NHS scheme is tiering of contributions. If we are able to subsidise pensions for those lower on the pay scale and attract more staff in that is a huge benefit. Doctors are useless without the rest of the multidisciplinary team.
