“I feel a real responsibility to try and get as much on screen for the audience as possible to give the audience the fullest flavor,” says director Christopher Nolan, whose films are known for their scale, spectacle, and immersive worlds. https://t.co/yhBil9s8xG
Advice to young filmmakers:
1. Screenplays are the currency of all film business, so work on your writing skills.
2. The film business is built to cycle you out. Work hard every day to give it a reason not to.
3. Make the movies only you can or would make. That’s your voice.

If you call Film LA, the very first option is to report a production you think should be shut down for not having a permit.
The third option is to try and get a permit. If you don't get your application in my 10am a week before the shoot, they will not process your application. Not 10:05, not 12pm. Must be in by 10am. When you speak to the person at Film LA, they truly sound like they don't even want you to shoot there.
I hope whoever our next mayor is shuts down Film LA and makes it free and easy to get a permit.
LA has the best crews, the best casts, the best weather. It shouldn't be cheaper and easier to fly to Oklahoma and shoot there than it is to shoot at home. It's time to bring filmmaking back to LA.
@geoffkeighley When I was Chuck Roven’s assistant back in 2008 for The Dark Knight and a bunch of others, I remember listening to many phone calls with Chuck and your dad and always thought he sounded like such a nice guy, and definitely knew his stuff.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
I have never seen a contested catch like this ever be called anything but a catch. Even as a DB you know that if it’s even a Tie it will go to the WR. Can’t believe this decided the game.
Christopher Nolan explains his mindset before making a film:
“We put a lot into the films. I had lunch with a producer a few years ago, a very successful producer, not somebody I’ve worked with, and he was curious about my process. At some point, I said, ‘Every film I do, I have to believe that I’m making the best film that’s ever been made.’ He was absolutely shocked by this. It just never occurred to him that someone would think like that. And that, to me, was truly shocking, because films are really hard to make. I’m not going to say it’s the hardest job in the world—I’ve never tried coal mining—but they are all-consuming. Your family life, everything goes into it for a couple of years. So it had never occurred to me there were people doing it who weren’t trying to make the best film that ever was. Why would you otherwise? Even if it’s not going to be the best film that’s ever been made, you have to believe that it could be. You just pour yourself into it and when it affects someone that way, that is a huge thrill for me—huge thrill. I feel like I have managed to wrap them up in it the way I try to wrap myself up.”
