A timelapse view from our @SpaceX Dragon of the spectacular southern aurora seen in yesterday’s post, a result of a recent solar event. As opposed to the previous aurora I’ve seen, this one danced and snaked its way directly below us, putting on quite a show. I am in awe of this ethereal and emotionally evocative phenomenon.

As we predicted, there have been some tentatively positive signs emerging from the Middle East over the past few days.

Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is for now completely open for all commercial vessels, a ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Lebanon, and negotiations mediated by Pakistan between Iran and the United States continue.

As we have said repeatedly when asked about the likely timeline for resolution of this conflict, the situation in the Middle East calls for cool heads, calm and diplomacy from New Zealand.

Always conscious of the significant impacts the conflict is having on our country and wider region, New Zealand will continue to support all initiatives aimed at working towards a lasting, sustainable end to this war.
