🚨🔵 CONFIRMED: 🚨 José Mourinho did it. Thomas Tuchel did it. Now Xabi Alonso is trying to do it too. 💙

Chelsea fans rejecting Xhaka need to look at the pattern staring them directly in the face. When Mourinho arrived for his first stint at Stamford Bridge, one of his first moves was bringing in Ricardo Carvalho from Porto into a young, mixed crop of talent, and that experienced, battle hardened defender became the cornerstone of back to back title winning sides. Fast forward to 2020, Tuchel arrives and almost immediately identifies one thing this squad is missing above everything else, a leader who's been there and done it at the highest level. He goes to PSG and brings in Thiago Silva. A 36 year old. And what happened? Silva became one of the greatest Chelsea signings of the modern era, won us the Champions League, and transformed that dressing room's entire mentality overnight.

The pattern is the pattern. Every Chelsea era that actually worked had an experienced, proven leader brought in by the incoming manager to set the standard for everyone else around them. Xhaka is that player for Alonso's era. He was captain at Arsenal, leader at Leverkusen through an unbeaten title winning season, captain of Switzerland, and now doing the exact same thing at Sunderland. Everywhere this man goes, leadership follows. Chelsea fans have spent an entire season screaming about the lack of experience and leadership in this squad, and now that Alonso is personally requesting the exact profile they've been crying out for, suddenly we don't need him? The irony is genuinely painful.

Here's the thing that people conveniently ignore when they say Xhaka is too old or too expensive, Alonso knows this man better than any of us ever will. He watched him every single day at Leverkusen, he knows exactly what Xhaka brings to a dressing room beyond just football, the standards he sets in training, how he carries himself when things go wrong, how younger players respond to him. That's not something you find on a stat sheet and it's not something you replace with a 21-year-old with potential. Xhaka brings it effortlessly, and Alonso knows it.

Chelsea fans, if Mourinho bringing Carvalho and Tuchel bringing Silva both worked, why on earth are you fighting Alonso bringing Xhaka?
