@ClareChilton @NRCPD @VLP_TerpTweets @ASLIuk@BDA_Deaf Courses need to be more affordable to increase the number of Registered/Trainee Translators - one quote came out at £2850 for Part 1 of the Diploma, which is not viable for those who do not have full time employment opportunities in the domain as yet
@LesleyCFmum@NRCPD Agree. Seen way too many instances where a Relay/Intralingual has been used as well as a BSL Interpreter, where an Interpreter for Deafblind People could do it, but simply are not enough on the register.
@BSLterplife Deffo Wed/Thurs. Your clients - some won’t work on Mondays and then start on Tuesday to find they need to attend meetings later in the week. Surprisingly many still don’t book well in advance and hope there is availability same week!!
@myswnews does anyone have any literature or research about social work pilots where teams werendivided into assessment, and support planning with workers designated as specialist assessors, or support planners?
@studies_centre Where are you using the label? let the individual interpreter themselves decide. When booking a Deaf Interpreter or Interpreter, most requesters would not know the difference but both can do the job! Possibly if you use the term Interpreter, more Deaf Interpreters would be booked
@Drisanalg Have you ever considered training for a career in Social Work? Your background in Advocacy and E&D would suit that kind of role. Empower others to utilise their strengths and not be burdened about their barriers/ can’t do attitudes.
