Friends, while there are similarities between the French and American Revolutions, there is one massively important difference: The Americans, shaped by biblical convictions, grounded reason in Godโs order.
Another terrible night for democracy. While the socialist ideological takeover of the New York Democratic Party is nearly complete, there are over 3.4 million independents in New York who were locked out of the process. Many of us left the parties because we're exhausted by the partisan warfare. Yet we were denied a voice in elections that, in 99% of districts, decide who governs. Meanwhile, about 85% of Democrats stayed home. Let that sink in. A very small percentage of New Yorkers is making decisions for everyone else. In district after district, the primary is the election. November is often little more than a formality because the partisan advantage is so overwhelming. This isn't a left-right issue. It's a democracy issue. A government chosen by a tiny minority of voters should concern all of us. That's not how democracy is supposed to work. New York needs to open its primaries to independent voters. Our elected officials should reflect the people they represent, not just the activists, insiders, and political factions that dominate low-turnout primaries. Until that changes, millions of tax-paying New Yorkers will continue to be governed by politicians selected by a tiny minority and then presented to the rest of us as if we had a meaningful choice. And as the results show, many are not.
