🚨 INEOS / Manchester United's failed transfer targets this summer:

Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest → Man City, £116m) - Fee too high; United refused to match it and enter a bidding war.

Mateus Fernandes (West Ham → Tottenham, £85m) – High fixed fee and wages; United wouldn’t fully match Spurs’ offer.

Sandro Tonali (Newcastle → Tottenham, £100m) – High fee; United did not pursue aggressively.

Aurélien Tchouaméni (Real Madrid) – Real did not want to sell; he signed a new deal. High fee and wages.

Lewis Hall (Newcastle, left-back) – Newcastle refused to sell (high valuation around £60m) despite United interest and the player being open to a move.

Manu Koné (Roma) – High fee from Roma (~£51m). Internal disagreement at United, with Jason Wilcox not fully agreeing on the move.

Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle → Arsenal, ~£75m) – Age (28, turning 29) and high fee from Newcastle.

Alex Scott (Bournemouth) – High fee (~£80m); United pulled back as the price was too high and Bournemouth reluctant to sell.

Carlos Baleba (Brighton) – High fee (Brighton wanted £75-100m); United value him lower and did not push.

INEOS so far:

• Spent 2 years chasing Dan Ashworth, only to eventually sack him.

• At the end of the season, they conducted an assessment and decided sacking Ten Hag was the best decision for the club.

• Ten Hag wins the FA Cup, and suddenly they change their minds and keep him, only to sack him halfway through the following season anyway.

• They then claimed they had conducted another thorough assessment and concluded Ruben Amorim was the best man for the job.

• Amorim had made it clear from day one that he would play a back three and wouldn't change his system. INEOS agreed and backed the appointment.

• Dan Ashworth reportedly disagreed with the Amorim decision and was subsequently sacked.

• A few months later, INEOS sack Amorim, essentially because he wouldn't abandon the system they knew he was going to play when they hired him.

• They then told fans they would use the remaining six months of the season to find the right, competent manager.

• Six months passed. They did nothing and eventually appointed the interim manager they had already chosen, claiming he was the suitable candidate.

• Now it's August, and that "suitable candidate" has a net spend of around £40m. They aren't even properly backing the manager they supposedly concluded was the best man for the job.

We finally get UCL football and a very good chance to build progressively, and yet our board decide to let Carrick down?

Would be absolutely catastrophic if we don't do a proper midfield rebuild this summer.

I absolutely love Mason Mount as a player.

His work ethic is top, he's technically excellent, makes smart decisions, is fantastic on and off the pitch, and when fit, I think he's looked really good in that deeper midfield role. Intelligent footballers can adapt, and Mount is one of them.

HOWEVER, Manchester United still have to sign another midfielder.

His injury record means you simply can't rely on him to start or even play 50+ games. Use him as a luxury option across the Prem & UCL. If he stays fit, that's a huge bonus!

If not, you've still got quality in the starting XI instead of being left short.

Man United should sign Lewis Hall as the proper Luke Shaw replacement 🔴

Even with Patrick Dorgu here, Hall should be Shaw’s natural long-term successor.

• Dorgu thrives higher up as a wing-back/winger Dorgu is versatile which would help United real good.
But Lewis Hall locks down the pure left-back role, adds those defensive steel + progressive quality that Shaw brings when fit.

Lewis Hall’s abilities:
. Strong crosser & set-piece threat
• Good progressive passer
• nice dribbler under pressure
• Solid tackler/interceptor/blocker
• High stamina, composure & versatility

#manutd signing Lewis wall will bring a very strong upgrade to the squad, Allowing Dorgu to roam free up front when he is needed and then using hall to lock down the left back. We can’t trust Shaw to be fit .. we were only lucky with Shaw last season !!.
