In our 3rd beatification push for Swim Trials, community volunteers and the @IndyDT Clean Team are pulling weeds, mulching, and planting flowers on South Street! 💐 @IndSportsCorp
We hope to see you out enjoying the vibrancy of Downtown this week!
@angelaganote Here are the poems. She had a bag of them on her walker. She picked out one about butterflies and one about the beach for me. She signed them “Karen Reffitt, 72 and holding.”
Sad to see that the Johnson’s Dairy smokestack in Btown has been cut down to size. Who has the rest of the tower? Would sure love to rebuild it in our front yard so everyone knows where to find the Johnsons!
The rain didn’t dampen our tour of Mid-Century modern buildings in Btown. Saw the Benton murals, visited the new(ish) van der Rohe building, took in some ballet, even had a visit with Hoagy. Thank you @IndianaLandmark for a great day!
@Morbidful The quarry where the stone came from to build the Empire State Bldg (in Ooolitc, IN) still exists to repair the building with the same stone should something like this occur. And I believe it was used to repair the building after this incident.
@angelaganote Usually when I’d see her I’d ask if she was staying out of trouble, she’d giggle and say she was trying. Last week, before I even asked, she told me she’s staying out of trouble. I’ll miss seeing her.
@angelaganote Oh no. That’s horrible. I’d see her occasionally in the lobby of her building as I made deliveries. She hung out there quite a bit chatting people up. On Wed last week she gave me 2 poems - both with a blessing for me in them. My sympathies to her family. She was a special lady.
@Livefreak01 Indiana band The Vulgar Boatmen. Came so close to a major label deal that would have certainly won them fans all over. Still a great listen 30 years later.
