Here is the solution.

The smallest whole-number answer is 15 coins in the purse.

One valid setup is that the three merchants started with 1, 3, and 5 coins.

Check the math:

1 + 15 = 16 = 2(3 + 5)
3 + 15 = 18 = 3(1 + 5)
5 + 15 = 20 = 5(1 + 3)

So 15 is the smallest possible answer.

At the third gate, add half an apple and get 1. You give away your last apple and walk through with nothing. No apple was ever cut.

What is your favorite altcoin?

A few years back it was an optimal time to accumulate physical silver. Now I think its time to aggressively buy physical altcoins ie hold your keys. I believe the $2.4T market cap of crypto is quite low compared to tech stocks and bitcoin and ethereum appear to be consolidating.
