I am the Joint Chair of the Hull City Branch Of UNISON and a Senior Steward. I am also the Vice-president of a large local Credit Union and I have worked in the
First test of Mayor Campbell’s support for green energy - unanimous approval by the new Hull & East Yorks combined authority executive board to support £1.6m funding bid for solar energy projects on public buildings/land. Final decision rests with @GBEgovuk
Luke Campbell says he will put his support for local green energy jobs and businesses before party politics. Appears to be at odds with Nigel Farage’s pledge yesterday to “scrap net zero” if Reform UK wins the next General Election.
This is essential viewing. The Tory party chairman is arguably the second most important campaigner for the Conservatives. Here he is supposed to be answering questions on behalf of all broadcasters. Naturally we wanted to know how he secured a safe seat for himself without giving Tory members any kind of say. Listen to his answer
Ratings figures for the first months after recent changes at BBC @RadioHumberside took effect show a huge 20% fall - the worst figures in at least 30 years. Not inevitable, but the predictable result of cuts to BBC local radio. Those responsible should give their heads a wobble.
I remember when I moved to London I couldn’t open an account at Lloyd’s in Crouch End because they didn’t accept the Irish passport as valid ID. I didn’t go on Newsnight to complain; I just went next door to Barclays. Nigel is such a drama Queen.
Wonderful news that our team at @Hull_Museums & the @HumberMuseums partnership, with North Lincolnshire and the East Riding, have secured National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) funding through @ace_national@ace_thenorth 👏👏👍
BBC Local Radio gets 4.6% of the licence fee. Out of £159 a year, that’s £7.36 per household per year – the price of a couple of posh coffees - for around 100 hours of original, locally made programming every week on 39 stations. 64% of weekday daytime output is speech content.
@andycomfort@polly_sharpe I don't watch much TV, of any channel. I do however listen to an awful lot of local radio so this infuriates me as an individual and as a trade unionist. People who have dedicated decades to radio and provide a vital local service treated like this is disgraceful.
