Here's your reminder that George Washington successfully opposed a congressional plan to put his face on a coin because he thought it was too king-like. Hard to think of a more perverse way to celebrate America's 250th than with this tacky-ass Trump coin.
This is one reason why the attack on empathy is so evil. If we have to wait for person after person to experience the brutality of this administration before we wake up, then we'll inflict an immense amount of pain on our country. But if, instead, we could place ourselves in the shoes of the immigrant in chains, then we can see the injustice more plainly.
And no, this does not mean that we can't or shouldn't deport illegal immigrants when appropriate. It doesn't mean we must have open borders. But we can't lose our own humanity and decency in the process, and we must not use brutality as an instrument of enforcement.
As I predicted as soon as Ukraine began striking Russian refineries, Trump is going to blame Ukraine for gas prices & begin to pressure them to stop doing it. Once again, the US will side with Putin against a country fighting for its survival. We are morally bankrupt under Trump.
I feel like society collectively forgets how crazy it is that the most powerful military in the world is led by a former Fox News weekend host with no significant management experience who never held a high-ranking military command
Wade Meckler jumped into the stands to rob Bryson Stott of a go-ahead, three-run homer in the ninth inning. Then, Edmundo Sosa hit a pinch-hit grand slam. What in the absolute hell.
I am fascinated by how so many people who are enmeshed in an administration with a 32 percent approval rating are like "surely I shall have a glide path to the Oval Office in 2028"
Two things:
1. Conservative & Republican are no longer synonyms. There is nothing conservative in an American, constitutionalist sense about the Trumpified GOP. For conservatives, there is no “us” party right now.
2. Good. Snot-nosed little brats deserve a good hard spanking.
