We have the kids, we have the free volunteers but sadly we don't have enough affordable all weather in/out door facilities in grassroots football #GamesOffAagain
The scene in many households once again this weekend with no grassroots football
🤔 Your thoughts and views welcome
🌧️ Six Weeks of Rain. One Uncomfortable Truth.
🗣️Over the past six weeks, relentless rainfall has caused widespread postponements, with some teams yet to play a competitive game in 2026. This disruption impacts far more than results — it affects development, momentum, and engagement across the game.
One clear positive has emerged: 3G pitches. Teams with access to 3G have enjoyed consistent fixtures with minimal call-offs, providing stability during a challenging period.
This leaves an uncomfortable but necessary conversation. Drainage on grass pitches is no longer “nice to have” — it’s essential. And investment in 3G isn’t a future idea; it’s a present-day requirement.
As weather patterns become increasingly unpredictable, reliable playing surfaces are key to protecting the future of the game.
If we want reliable fixtures, player development, and momentum in the game, the weather can’t keep winning.
Nobody cares but with all the cancellations of training sessions and matches once again kids are slowly losing interest and are walking away from grassroots football and yes there’s nothing we can do about the weather but we should have more affordable in/out door facilities
Blades fans, we did it brilliantly for Harvey on Tuesday, let's do the same for Helen on Monday.
Repost this to get it around the fanbase.
Once a blade, always a blade ⚔️⚔️

Welcome HOME
The nervous poos are back.
The "lost shin pads" days are back.
The sunshine is gone. Now q distant memory.
Putting the nets up in the rain? Back.
Concrete feet and frozen faces? Back.
The big coats are back, the sideline drama is back. The parent who thinks they're Pep, yes their back. 😜
New teams are forming, title rivals are returning.
Fresh-faced coaches who have no clue what they’ve signed up for? Yes somehow we got them to sign up.
Veteran coaches who definitely do know what they’ve signed up for (and still did it anyway)? Back.
The players are back. The pitches are back.
Grassroots football is BACK.
Welcome home, everyone — let’s have another season of mud, mayhem, and magic! ⚽
This Sunday we pay tribute to former player and manager Steve Payton.
An XI of previous players and managers has been assembled to mark the occasion.
All proceeds to go to a charity of Steve’s family’s choice.

@markpilleyrdsl@Rdslfootball I’d say in general that the quality of private facilities is far and above those supplied by the council, and also the closer relationships with those who run the facilities
