YOUR PARENTS WON'T ASK FOR THESE;
1. Call them without a reason not when you need money or help.
2. Listen to the same story again. One day, you'll miss it.
3. Help them quietly don't announce it like a favor.
4. Take pictures with them, even when it feels unnecessary.
5. Defend them when others mock their age, habits, or opinions.
6. Make time now, not "after things settle down." They won't.
7. Speak gently when they make mistakes. They're learning your world.
A mentor once told me: "Every single day you have the opportunity to take actions that will make tomorrow a little bit better. Never forget that. Small decisions rarely change your life overnight, but they absolutely shape where you end up."
Ann was one of the reporters who made me a better editor. We were both from Iowa, and her no-nonsense manner could come across as gruff. She fought for the right things. She was generous and a good human being.

Two remarkably inspiring performances over the past week from @AnthonyKim_Golf and Alysa Liu.
I stayed up way past my bedtime to watch AK’s improbable win, his first in 16 years. I’ve long been a huge fan so his story obviously hit hard. He believed in himself when almost no one else did, and accomplished one of the greatest comebacks in any sport.
I just learned about Alysa Liu and her story yesterday, and somehow her performance was just as impactful. After reading more about her retirement and watching her gold medal winning skate a half dozen times online, I stayed glued to the tv last night to watch it again. It looked like she was having so much fun when most Olympic athletes look so intense.
Lessons I’ll be sure to remember for myself and reiterate with my kids: always believe in yourself and don’t forget to have fun.
alysa liu is such an incredible lesson in choosing joy and following your bliss. she didn’t come to milan to win a medal, she came to showcase her art and enjoy herself. and she walked away with gold
holding on too tightly never works. let go and enjoy the ride
Way to go AK!
Redemption stories always resonate. From being one of the most talented players in the world, to disappearing from the game, to putting in the work to get yourself back into the winner’s circle - that takes something special.
We all fail at times. Not everyone has the courage to come back, face it, and rebuild. That takes real strength.
Congrats, AK
Haven’t really watched much golf in recent years except for the majors, but stayed up late for this one. Just an incredible story, and AK played lights out. As he said, anything is possible if you believe in yourself.
@ThePupOfWallSt I feel this. Lost my dad 10 years ago. Just 68. My mom’s health is declining. A phone call, even for just a few moments, makes a world of difference. ❤️
