@ggreenwald I’d love to see you make the argument that the Iranian government has maintained its power with less violence towards its own people than US efforts to set up a puppet government in Iran. Maybe I’m missing something.
@ggreenwald Fine. But why don’t they keep the same energy for what the Iranian government has done to its own people, which is far worse in intention and action? Because there’s no moral courage or consistency there just as you like to point out there is none in the West.
@thomaschattwill The Greek epics have always been referenced and nuanced through the lens of contemporary learning, ie Virgil did it, Dante, Milton, etc. But those were done often via established cultural norms. I’m not clear Nolan’s choice is as rooted as Dante’s, for example.
@thomaschattwill@thomaschattwill not a great look for you. You yourself appear uncultured and similar to MAGA, saying something that sounds right or asking a question that sounds reasonable, but is really stupid. Homer’s text description of Helen would roughly translate as “white armed”
@AkademiksTV I don’t understand how Ak went all in on this. Man, he done lost touch with the real hip hop. Imagine Biggie or Pac rapping all broken after they beef, the way Drake is wallowing. Sad to see the culture take a dip like this, and taking Ak down in the process.
Thank you Drake 💯 For years I have been paralyzed and stuck in a wheel chair. But when my friend started playing your new Album “ICEMAN”, I gained the strength to get up and turn that trash ass music off 😭 Thank you Mr. Drake and all you do for the disabled community 🥹
David French says he is furious at the Republican Party and claims abortions went up under Trump.
I asked, “What did he do that caused abortions to rise?”
French: “What I'm saying is, as I said earlier, this is a man who contributed to extraordinary growth in libertinism, especially on the right.”
“Okay, do we have data that shows us that it's more people on the right that were getting abortions under Donald Trump?”
French: “We don't have data.”
I used to love reading 5,000-word Atlantic & NYT's Magazine articles. Steve Gould's & Richard Dawkins' long essays were a literary delight. Those days are gone. Now you have to tweet 2 sentences from your 1500 word essay in hopes someone will actually read it.
Shameful.
@jaynordlinger Think of the times Buckley and Reagan operated. You can’t tell us publicly licensed and funded outlets were at that standard of balance going into and during Trump’s 1st term.
