Unions representing workers at 40 ports across Europe and the Mediterranean have called for an International Day of Strikes and Protests Against War and Genocide on Oct. 30 under the slogan "Against War and Militarism," pledging coordinated action to block the transport of military cargo.

The call was issued by dockworkers' unions in France, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, and the Basque Country, which are demanding an end to the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza and the US-Israeli wars of aggression in the Middle East and against Iran.

The escalation was agreed upon during a meeting of port workers' unions held in Istanbul in May, where participants declared that "ports must not be used for the transport of arms, ammunition, military equipment, or troops destined for war zones."

The pro Israel platform Stop Antisemitism launched an incitement campaign against popular American children’s content creator Miss Rachel, urging parents to keep their children away from her content and describing her as "nothing more than a fraud."

The campaign followed a post by Miss Rachel in which she asked: "Does the Israeli government have a communication problem?" before answering: "No, it has a genocide problem."

The platform wrote on its X account: "Miss Rachel is nothing but a larper. Keep your children away from her content."

Planned Parenthood Action Fund has endorsed my opponent, Democratic Congressmember Adam Smith, who has voted for tens of billions of dollars for the genocide in Gaza and voted to ban United Nations food assistance to Gaza.

It is estimated that women and girls account for 67 percent of the Palestinians killed so far in the genocide.

It always astonishes me how the American public is made to fear communism (as a monolithic boogeyman construct) yet the overwhelming majority have zero idea what it actually is or entails.

Because the state; the corporate and political elite, know that if the public actually knew what it is— they would most likely embrace it, rather than reject it. They would revolt against them and their inequitable condition foremost.

So they've purposefully manufactured confusion and fear around any understanding, let alone mention, of communism. They vilify socialists and communist figures at every turn.

All to keep you from understanding not only the exploitation you are subjected to, but the very capacities you possess to halt and dismantle that apparatus of systematized economic oppression.

The popular American understanding of fascism/ authoritarianism was purposefully misconstrued with communism to essentially conflate them as being equals or interchangeable; that they propagate the same ideology.

Just as emphasis was placed on the Nazis being a *socialist* party. When the average American wouldn't know it was the communists in Russia who actually defeated fascistic Nazi Germany.

Long ago, the American corporatist elite and political class collaborated to stifle the trade unions and labor movement; to successfully assure they were politically blunted and neutralized in every meaningful organizing capacity.

That's why while in Venezuela and Cuba the workers were given rifles and trained to defend their people amid an impending imperialist invasion, in America the workers stayed silent in the face of genocide and overarching fascism on their streets. Kept alienated and disinterested.

Unable to even realize the collective power they hold; unable to organize any form of a general strike to deter the machinery that produces all the death and violence engulfing them.

There are more guns than people in the United States, but they're kept deluded, enchanted and distracted by nonsensical, trivial affairs; kept divided and fighting amongst themselves; unable to mobilize against state sanctioned terror that will eventually come for each and every one of them.

Tonight, I sat at a dinner table in Spain.

There was bread being passed from one hand to another, laughter rising and fading, conversations drifting toward tomorrow, the weekend, ordinary things that belong to people who expect tomorrow to arrive.

I smiled when everyone else smiled.

Then my phone lit up. An evacuation order.

The area around a mosque in Gaza was about to be struck.

That mosque stands only a few steps from my cousins’ home.

Nothing around the table changed. Someone continued telling a story. A glass touched the table. Plates were passed around. It occurred to me that the world has an extraordinary ability to remain ordinary for those who are not watching it disappear.

My body stayed where it was.

My mind had already crossed the Mediterranean.

I found myself measuring distances I could no longer see, tracing familiar streets from memory, calculating what an explosion might reach, wondering whether my family’s home would still be standing an hour later.

No one at the table knew.

I kept smiling because I did not want my Spanish friends, who had welcomed me with such kindness, to realize that I had already left the room.

Then I called my family.

I lowered my voice. I spoke as though everything were normal.

Not because I believed it was, but because I knew that if they heard the fear in mine, they would begin protecting me from the truth, even while they themselves had nowhere to hide from it.

So I lived two evenings at once.

One unfolded around a dinner table.

The other unfolded beneath a sky waiting for the sound of an explosion.

People often say that war destroys homes.

It does.

But first, it divides the human spirit. It teaches the body to remain in one place while the heart is forced to keep watch somewhere else. It asks you to participate in an ordinary evening while silently preparing yourself for unbearable news.

Tonight, I smiled in Europe.

But my heart never left the streets of Gaza.

NEW | Eight Palestine Action activists are facing prosecution in UK courts over their involvement with the pro-Palestinian protest group, including defendants Hannah Davidson and Teuta Hoxha.

Court proceedings heard that both women were driven by what they described as the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. They said the scenes they witnessed left them feeling powerless through conventional forms of protest and compelled them to take direct action. Davidson described Gaza as "a live-streamed genocide," citing images of mothers collecting the remains of their children. At the same time, Hoxha recalled footage of a Palestinian father carrying his son's remains in plastic bags as a defining moment.

Davidson told the court that by early 2024 she felt conventional activism, including writing letters, was no longer enough. Hoxha said the group's actions were motivated by a determination to disrupt the flow of arms from the UK to Israel, arguing that participants were willing to sacrifice their freedom and face imprisonment in an effort to save civilian lives.

Both defendants said they believed governments had failed to stop the violence, leading them to take action outside traditional forms of protest.
