@NAAhq We own 3 multifamily properties and we don't have any evictions... Most people just pay or just move out. Nevertheless, we like to have the option open...
@dianeyentel That's a lie - after we file for eviction ,we wait three weeks to see a judge - and then the judge gives the tenant another week to pack up - and most landlords don't file unless tenant is late like a month with rent. Right there its two months "free rent". Will you pay for it?
@NAAhq Solution: Make eviction available but have the judge at the eviction hearing decide if the tenant meets the criteria like lost job etc, and stop the eviction but have a local office who would pay the landlord within 10 days. That way, landlord gets paid, tenant stays, win/win
Make eviction legal again - landlords can file for unpaid rent, then tenant/landlord can meet with the judge, if tenant has lost job, got sick, etc judge can say - ok we will stop the eviction and have local office pay the landlord within ten days of court date. Win/win
@NAAhq If there are Billions of Dollars for "rental assistance" - its impossible to get it. And its subject to fraud as well. It needs to be more at a local level, where landlords locally can apply, call and talk to somebody and get paid fast and without delays. Not online like it is
@NAAhq Landlords DO NOT WANT to EVICT tenants. They would rather collect the rent. But if the tenant doesn't pay the rent - who will? AOC? Cory B? CDC? The Gov't? Its impossible to collect from the Gov't. And that's the problem.
@dianeyentel Landlords DO NOT want to evict tenants - they would rather collect the rent. But if tenant doesn't pay the rent - who will? You? AOC? Cory B? CDC? who will? Its impossible to collect from the Gov't. THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
Instead, they should make eviction legal, have tenant/landlord go to court, have the judge decide if tenant is qualified for help and then have a local gov't pay the landlord the rent right away (not a year later)
Its very difficult for landlords to get paid by the Gov't especially if tenant doesn't want to participate or the tenant makes too much money. In TX, if you make more then $28,000 - no assistance. The Eviction Moratorium is too general and it passes the burden on the landlords
Landlords DO NOT want to evict tenants - they would rather rent is paid. However, if tenants doesn't pay - who will? AOC? Cory B? CDC? The Government - Its impossible to collect payments from them. They need to make it easier for the Landlords to get paid for past due rent.
@DeanPreston The Landlords DO NOT WANT TO EVICT!!! They would rather rent gets paid. However, if the tenant doesn't pay the rent - who will? Will you? AOC? Cory B? Who will? Getting money from the Gov't is impossible. Do you work without pay? That's our livelihood.
@TheRealEGD @dianeyentel@emilyabenfer@RepCori@RepAOC Do you really think that tenants who live in rental units should not be paying rent? Why don't you work for free? Why is it the landlords responsibility to contact the Gov't for past due rent? Some really dumb person without any knowledge of economics came up with this
@NAAhq The eviction moratorium is too Broad!! Tenants with jobs take advantage of it. Why pay rent when you don't have to - you can't be evicted!! Use that money for something else. The burden is placed on the landlord to deal with the Government to collect rent that's not paid
@TheRealEGD @dianeyentel@emilyabenfer@RepCori@RepAOC Why do you just stop at evictions? Why don't you make the food Free for All!! That these days is even more money then rent. Why don't we turn into Cuba and start not paying any of our bills? You think its fair for people to rent and not pay their rent? Seriously??
@NAAhq The moratorium is too general. It can not apply to everybody, Not everyone has lost their jobs and even if they had, why should we house somebody for free. Its ridiculous!!! People have job and if they don't feel like paying rent, they don't have to. And its all Legal.
