60. The Movie Doctors by Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo - my copy given to me by the good doctors some years ago for appearing on stage with them, but only now read. A fittingly loose conceit for a glossy book about films with some fine essays in. And we're done for the year.

59. The Monk Of Mokha by Dave Eggers - the immensely engrossing tale of Mokhtar, the man with a mission to bring Yemeni coffee to the world, and the hell he goes through doing so. Eggers always writes non-fiction with a fiction's verve, and so it is here.
My good friend/member of my mum's old tutor group David Hoare is both a very lovely person and a very funny musical comedian. His new album is out now and is wonderful. You should listen!
