Last night Donald Trump released a declassified document that says his own intelligence community identified Putin as personally running an operation to defeat my father in 2020, built around a fake Burisma corruption scandal centered around me and executed through prominent Americans.

Trump tasked his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, to fly to Kyiv and meet a known Russian agent.

The Americans who ran, laundered, and legitimized the operation:

Donald Trump. Rudy Giuliani. John Solomon. Joe DiGenova. Victoria Toensing. Lev Parnas. Igor Fruman. Chanel Rion. Sean Hannity. Steve Bannon. Miranda Devine. Ken Vogel. Ron Johnson. Chuck Grassley. James Comer. Jim Jordan.

To name a few.

An operation formally sanctioned by Trump's own Treasury Department on September 10, 2020, and expanded to include more named actors on January 11, 2021.

Oh, and don't forget the Russian-linked FBI informant Alexander Smirnov, who later pleaded guilty to making the entire Burisma bribery story up.

The ICE shooting in Biddeford, Maine is one of a series of violent attacks directed at immigrants and, in some cases, American citizens. Despite operating with an annual budget exceeding $10 billion, ICE is exempt from facing many of the guardrails required of other law enforcement agencies. These include body camera requirements and independent oversight, both which should apply to every agency entrusted with enforcing the law. This lack of accountability undermines the rule of law and poses a direct threat to constitutional democracy in the United States.

It’s not the Democrats’ fault that ICE has reportedly shot and killed 10 people since the beginning of Trump’s second term, including American citizens. It’s not the Democrats’ fault that at least another 52 people have died in ICE custody, according to ICE’s own internal reports.

In fact, the Human Rights Watch reports that the number of ICE-related deaths are occurring at nearly four times the rate seen during the Biden administration and two and a half times the rate of Trump’s first administration.

As ICE becomes increasingly militarized and is turned inward against American citizens, we should all be concerned by how little the federal government is doing to maintain accountability, integrity, and the rule of law. No amount of political blame shifting can erase the fact that ICE is killing people at a historically unprecedented rate. The Trump administration’s refusal to take responsibility for these failures reflects their disregard for American lives, especially those who oppose and disagree with them.

These attacks have been common and recently led to the death of five crewmembers on a Togo-flagged bulker.

We do not have casaulty figures on the recent 136 attacks launched by Ukraine against shipping in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea.

But we can be confident that merchant mariners are in the line of fire between Russia and Ukraine, along with Iran and the U.S.
