@DustinMont@Liz_Wheeler I give a pass to early days but by fall of 2020 it was abundantly clear schools should be reopened and masks were useless. The dems doubled down on bad policy for 2 more years. Toddlers were still masked in nyc until June 2022. Vaccine mandates only in blue cities & fed by biden
I was questioning things in 2020 - even though I was/am very much in favor of criminal justice reform, I didn’t like how democrats were calling everyone racist. Covid hysteria made me raise eyebrows. Then when I started to push for reopening schools summer of 2020 it was only democrats who were so against it. I hated Trump but could see he was right about reopening.
Then Biden got into office and was SO divisive. Democrats couldn’t move on from Trump. Jan 6th wasn’t great but I never thought 99% of the people there were criminals. More divisive rhetoric from the left.
But really what changed my mind was covid policies & education. I think Republicans have been better in recent history on education, they were first to see covid policies were bad for kids & they aren’t trying to stifle speech in the name of “misinformation”
General woke insanity also turned me off & it was much easier living in a purple state where I didn’t feel like I’d get cancelled for being a sometimes Republican.
If Democrats apologized for school closures and masks & ran a real primary I could have maybe still voted D. But they didn’t. I have two options and think Trump, especially @JDVance are better for my family.
A biological boy, who identifies as transgender, just won 2 GIRL events at highly competitive high school track meet in Oregon. He took 1st in the girl’s 200 and 400- he would have placed 31st in both had he run against the boys.
Tell us again that this doesn’t happen?

I respect my elders. Much moreso than the average Western millennial.
I just don't think 80 year olds should be running the country. If you disagree, that's ok.
Patients come into hospital with severe alcohol withdrawal and cirrhosis, we give them all resources possible to quit alcohol.
Patients who actively smoke and come into hospital with a new lung mass, we urge them to stop smoking for good.
Patients come into hospital with severe metabolic dysfunction, obesity and a related complication, we feed them pancakes, highly refined carbs and sodas.

An alarming sign of our dysfunctional & regressive modern-times is having to make a preface to remind people of this:
In the Before Times, all enlightened, civilized humans recognized that each person is unique with an amalgamation of ideas & opinions...where we appraised things on an issue by issue basis. eg: "I agree wholeheartedly with THIS, not so much on that & I'll pass completely on that other thing"
This past week:
@rweingarten said she fought to open schools the whole time
Fauci said he had nothing to do with it and maybe schools were closed too long but not his daughter’s so maybe they weren’t really closed for so long!
And the White House said Biden made open schools his priority.
So why did they stay closed for a year and a half? Who did it? The kids? The parents? Someone did it. Who could it be? Someone caused this generational catastrophe. 🤔
People seem easily confused by the difference between informing the public of risk (education), and deliberately frightening them (emotional manipulation)
Aside from the ethics, fear and anxiety impede good decision making
Frightening people is wrong, AND bad public health
