The same city where the Pennsylvania SPCA first stood up for horses 159 years ago is now a city where horses no longer have to pull carriages through traffic for entertainment.

This is what it means to never give up.

To keep showing up, year after year, for the animals who need us, whether that's a single horse on a Philadelphia street in 1867, or one of the thousands of animals in our care today.

Today, as we celebrate our 159th birthday, we have one birthday wish: 159 donors to carry this mission forward. Will you be one of them?

In 1867, the Pennsylvania SPCA was founded with a single purpose: to protect the horses working the streets of Philadelphia.

At a time when horses were the backbone of the city, pulling carriages, carts, and commerce through every corner of town, few were speaking up for their well-being.

We are writing to you to give you an update about our ambulance appeal that we started on June 1st.
Our ambulance, after years of honourable service rescuing animals in the whole of Syria, especially in the last years after Syria’s liberation when we became able to visit all the Syrian zone including the rural ones, where no vet services or animals assistance exists.
In 2025 - 2026 we organaized free vet clinic mobile days in Lattakia, Damascus, Hama, Tartous, Aleppo etc., to make free vet clinic days.
Thanks to our partnership with WTG and with the help of our partner Gunther’s family in the USA, we provided assistance, spaying, neutering, vaccines, medical help, offering all types of care to cats, dogs, birds, and to any other type of animals that we find.
Without an ambulance – that is a van with essential veterinary equipment added - we will not be able to continue these types of missions.
We know how essential these clinics are in our country - and ours is literally the only one in the whole of Syria.
For this we hope to be able to replace it soon , using the old equipment that WTG financed for us in the past.
In Syria there are no new vans available. There are just second hand ones in good condtion, and our hope is to buy one this summer.

Boots may be missing a leg, but she's not missing a beat!

This sweet tripod girl doesn't let anything slow her down. After coming to us with a severe leg wound that couldn't be saved, Boots has bounced back beautifully and gets around so well you'd hardly know she's missing a limb.

She may be a senior, but you'd never be able to tell. She's very playful, friendly, and silly.

Boots is open to meeting kids and other cats and is ready to find a family who will love her as much as everyone here does. Come meet this very special girl.

Seventy-eight lives are safe today.

But the conditions they were living in before are difficult to comprehend.

When our Animal Law Enforcement team arrived at a home in Lancaster County yesterday, they were met with overwhelming heat, dangerously high ammonia levels, and rooms filled with waste, debris, and trash stacked from floor to ceiling.

The air was harsh, but officers spent hours working through those physically demanding conditions to ensure every animal could be found and brought to safety.

Hidden throughout the home were 78 Ragdoll cats and kittens.

Some were frightened. Some were sick. All were living in conditions no animal should ever have to endure.

With the assistance of the Lancaster Township Police Department, our team carefully removed every cat from the property.

Today, they are receiving forensic examinations, medical care, nutritious food, clean bedding, and something many of them may not have experienced in a very long time - relief.

They are not available for adoption at this time, but soon so many lives will have a chance at a brighter future in those forever, loving homes.

This June, the Pennsylvania SPCA turns 159 years old. Since 1867, we have been showing up for animals in the hardest conditions, on the hardest days. If you'd like to help us continue that legacy, there's no better way than helping these 78 cats right now. Our Day of Giving is June 22, but these animals need care today.

Being biologically female means having a body that is observably organised to produce large gametes (eggs), as opposed to a body organised to produce small gametes (sperm). A woman is female whether her eggs have been fertilised or not. A man can never be female.

Today, I was given a permanent ban of posting on my Facebook page, @Meta. The page can exist - apparently - but I am not allowed to post on it anymore. The page has been deemed controversial due to the Giggle v Tickle case and increased popularity of 25,000 new followers in a week. I don't want to labor the irony of being banned on a social networking platform while fighting in court for the right to ban men from a woman only social networking platform, it is what it is. Frankly, I'd love to have the same right that you do, @Meta.

Women are routinely punished for not accepting men as women. It doesn't turn those men into women. Nothing will.

Kirralie Smith (@KirralieS) is in court today to appeal a vilification decision and $95,000 in damages.

Kirralie was bringing attention to the *fact* there are biological men in a women’s soccer team, and they sued her.

It has since been revealed that the women in the women’s soccer league have been told they will be punished if they so much as walk off the field when a man [who claims to be a woman] is on it.

The destruction of women’s rights have long been the canary in the coal mine of gender ideology, and Kirralie is being used as the example to scare other women into submission.

But it isn’t just women’s rights that gender ideology destroys: it’s freedom of belief & freedom on speech, the absolute bedrock of a free society.
