Dr Lola Salem, a 33-year-old lecturer at the University of Oxford and Michael Gove’s ex-girlfriend, has been charged with possessing indecent images of children between May 2021 and February 2023.

Three of the images are classified as Category B, the second most serious category, while one is classified as Category C.

She pleaded not guilty and stand trial next year.
