Banks have even become lenient.
During our own time as operations officers, you cannot use your phone during work hours, you submit it.
Why?
Because it was the same staff members who were using their phones to snap customers’ signature and send to fraudsters.
According to the mother: This happened today at around 4:00am. My son woke up saying his chest was hurting and that he needed to see a doctor. Normally I try to avoid rushing to the hospital because I know how he can be, but this time I decided to take him anyway.
On the way there he actually fell asleep, and for a moment I even thought of turning back. But something told me to keep going, so I drove straight to casualty at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to witness in the next two hours.
About two hours later, a woman came rushing into casualty screaming in a way that cuts straight through your heart. She was carrying her little daughter, who looked about 7 or 8 years old. The pain in that mother’s cry was something I will never forget.
Doctors rushed to help, and after a few minutes they came back and told the mother that her daughter was gone.
The mother let out the most heartbreaking scream. Everyone in that casualty fell silent.
But then something incredible happened.
Instead of collapsing, the mother suddenly started praying loudly.
“Lord remember me! Lord remember me! It’s me your servant. I have served you faithfully. You are not a man that you should lie!”
At that moment I found myself sitting there crying, and I didn’t even realise when I started praying with her. She began praying in tongues, and I joined in.
About an hour and a half later, the doctors came back again. The mother saw them and immediately asked, “Is she alive?”
And the doctor said something I will never forget:
“Yes… we’re preparing a bed for her in ICU.”
The entire room froze.
The mother screamed again, but this time it was different. She started thanking God, shouting “Jesus, you are faithful!”
What amazed me even more is that she didn’t run to go see her daughter immediately. She stayed there for another hour, still praying and thanking God.
All I can say is this: I recommend Jesus. I truly do.
Because today, with my own eyes, I witnessed something that felt like a miracle — the power of prayer.
There’s probably only a 1% chance that woman will ever read this, but if she does, I want her to know that she changed my life today.
I will never forget this day.

I worked 20 years for a child sex trafficking rescue group. I want you to know this:
90% of Lost Children Are Found Within 30 Minutes.
That statistic should both comfort you and wake you up.
Most lost children are found quickly. But the ones who aren’t? They usually made one mistake.
And here’s the uncomfortable truth:
It’s often the exact thing most parents teach them.
We tell our kids:
“If you get lost, come find me.”
It sounds logical. It sounds empowering.
It’s WRONG!
The Mistake Most Lost Children Make:
When children realize they’re separated, they do three things almost automatically:
They panic.
They wander.
They try to find you.
Every step makes them harder to locate.
From a search standpoint, movement creates chaos.
Parents retrace their steps.
Security scans zones.
Staff lock down areas.
Search works best when movement stops.
When a child keeps walking, they move outside the original search radius. Helpers are looking where they were last seen — not where they’ve wandered.
Stillness increases probability.
Movement expands the problem.
The first lesson is not “go find me.”
It’s this:
Stop. Stay. Yell.
Why Stillness Wins:
Think like a search team.
If a child stays put:
Parents can retrace steps.
Security can scan systematically.
Helpers converge to one fixed location.
The search radius remains small.
If a child keeps moving:
The search area expands.
Adults pass each other.
Missed connections multiply.
Minutes stretch into hours.
Stillness keeps the math on your side.
Teach Them Who to Approach:
The second mistake we make as parents?
We say, “Find an adult.”
Not any adult. Not the nearest stranger. Children need a filter.
Teach them to look for, if at all possible:
A mother with children.
Caregivers who already have kids with them are statistically among the safest people to approach in public settings. They are visible, stationary, and more likely to engage quickly.
It’s a clear, concrete instruction.
Children don’t process vague categories like “safe adult.”
They process visuals.
“Find a mom with kids” is visual.
A Phone Only Helps If the Number Is Known:
We often assume phones solve everything.
They don’t — unless your child can use one. Even young children can memorize a 10-digit phone number with repetition.
But you must train it.
Practice it like a song.
Sing it in the car.
Chant it at bedtime.
Turn it into rhythm.
Repetition becomes recall.
In an emergency, recall matters more than theory.
The Code Word Rule:
One more layer of protection.
Choose a private family code word.
Something only your household knows.
If someone approaches and says:
“Your mom sent me.”
Your child asks:
“What’s the code word?”
No word.
No go.
This simple rule eliminates manipulation attempts instantly.
It gives your child agency without requiring them to evaluate character.
Real Safety Is Training — Not Luck!
We don’t get safer by hoping.
We get safer by practicing.
Teach:
• Phone number
• Code word
• Stop, stay, yell
• Find a mom with kids
Multiple skills.
Simple instructions.
Clear visuals.
Five minutes of training can replace hours of panic. This isn’t about fear. It’s about preparation.
Because when a child gets separated, the clock starts.
And what they do in the first minute determines what the next thirty look like.
That’s real protection.
WHAT TO DO WHEN BITTEN BY A SNAKE
1. Move away from the snake carefully so you don't get bitten again. Try and see if you can get a description of the snake while moving away. This is helpful.
2. Even though this is very difficult to do, you must not panic. Panic makes your heart beat faster, which can spread venom quicker if it's venomous. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Try to keep the bitten area at or slightly below heart level (don't raise it high).
3. Remove anything tight near the bite.
4. Only try to drive or move yourself to the hospital if you've exhausted all other options. Your best bet if to call someone that can come and take you. This is to ensure that you keep physical activities at minimal level. Don't try to start running after the snake too. All these will increase your heartbeat and spread the venom faster.
5. While waiting for the person you called, clean the bite gentle with soap and water.
6. Immobilize the bitten area. Keep the limb as still as possible.
7. Get to a hospital as quickly and safely as possible. This is the most important step. Don't wait to see if symptoms get worse. Even if you feel okay at first, serious problems can start hours later.
WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T DO
1. Don't use a tourniquet (tight band or string to stop blood flow). Ircan cause more tissue damage.
2. Don't cut the bite or try to suck out venom. This can cause infection or more harm.
3. Don't apply ice or cold packs. It doesn't help and may damage tissue.
4. Don't drink alcohol or caffeine. They can speed up how your body reacts.
5. Don't take painkillers unless your doctor prescribes them. Some painkillers can increase bleeding.
Our crisis is not leadership alone. We, the citizens, are culpable, often catastrophically so.
A new road is already mutilated, not by age or nature, but by reckless human conduct. Infrastructure does not destroy itself. It is vandalised by impatience, lawlessness, and a culture that treats public property as an orphan with no guardian. This is civic failure in its rawest form.
When the inevitable tragedy happens, we will summon our familiar ritual, lament loudly, blame government swiftly, and absolve ourselves conveniently.
To govern Nigerians, one must not only make policy but predict indiscipline. One must build roads and simultaneously barricade against the citizen who will misuse them. One must legislate and then over-legislate, enforce and over-enforce, because compliance is treated as optional and rules as mere suggestions. That is an unnatural burden on any state.
A society cannot progress on laws alone when its people are committed to chaos. Until we confront this uncomfortable truth that nation-building is sabotaged daily by the very people who demand it,we will keep mistaking symptoms for causes.
If a business that wasn't previously charging VAT starts charging, obtain the receipt and post it on X. Tag NRS in the post to verify if the company is registered for VAT and if what they are charging for is 0% rated or not.
Many businesses are going to take advantage of VAT to increase their revenue without remitting it.
