Produce supplier Taylor Farms is recalling iceberg lettuce shipped to 27 U.S. states because of potential contamination with cyclospora, the parasite causing thousands of cases of diarrhea across the country.

🚩 Critical fire weather is expected across parts of California this week.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday for portions of Trinity and Shasta counties, where isolated dry thunderstorms could produce lightning outside of rainfall, increasing the risk of new wildfire starts.

A Fire Weather Watch is also in effect Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning for the mountains and south coast of Santa Barbara County, the Ventura County Mountains, and the Interstate 5 Corridor. Forecast conditions include strong northwest to north winds, hot temperatures, and relative humidity as low as 10–25%.

If a wildfire starts, these conditions can lead to rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior. Prepare now by packing a go-bag, creating a wildfire action plan with your family, and avoiding activities that could spark a fire.

Critical fire weather is forecast for portions of Northern and Eastern California as thunderstorms move across the region.

Red Flag Warnings are in effect for parts of Alpine, Mono, Lassen, Siskiyou and Modoc counties, with timing varying by area through Friday evening.

Thunderstorms may produce dry lightning and erratic outflow winds. Lightning can spark new fires, while gusty winds can cause fires to spread quickly.

Avoid activities that can ignite dry vegetation, including mowing dry grass, dragging tow chains, target shooting and campfires. Follow all local fire restrictions and report fires immediately by calling 911.

#SandyFire afternoon update:
Firefighters on the ground and in the air continue battling the Sandy Fire in steep, stubborn terrain. The images and video below are from the northeastern portion of the fire near the Sequoia Ave area in Simi Valley.

Crews are deploying hose lines and constructing handlines to strengthen containment efforts, while air tankers continue dropping retardant ahead of the fire to slow its spread.

Approximately 900 firefighters remain assigned to the incident.
