@The8BitzySpider@ikalawakan i think you are being purposefully obtuse so im done with this argument as its going in a circle. a 12 year old with no access to a console or laptop is 100x more a fan than most who have played a game and thats honestly all there is to it
no literally. its extremely sad too because although theres definitely games you would better understand with gameplay (shooter story games, open world, etc) theres nothing wrong with watching it at all. Especially if you dont have the resources available to partake yourself
@MidnightTravlr exactly this lol. would rather defend their egos over being a fan when someone watching playthroughs will do anything to promote the artists works. sad because half the time you could ask these “playing fans” about one character arc and they couldnt tell you a thing.
@The8BitzySpider@ikalawakan when i was living off scraps and a shitty android and fell in love with undertale i risked my phone to emulate it because i cared so much about it, but i already knew the whole games story before. i was previously a fan who yearned to play. some people cant risk that thats it lol
@The8BitzySpider@ikalawakan all im going to say is that you really should put more care into promoting directly supporting the artist and not just the art. Why does it bruise u so much if some 14 yr old with just a chromebook watches a playthrough and falls in love with it. They can be 100x more a fan vs u
this discourse is so tiring bc the only thing to say is why do you care? why do you care that some random 14 year old who you dont even know is watching a youtube walkthrough instead of spending their parents money on a 40$ game. like HOW does this bother anyone in the slightest
@_monkey_D_larp ive deadass played Call of duty and wouldnt call myself a fan but by your definition id be one because i played the game. i know nothing about it art or direction wise. someone who knows all of that, its lore, and has done deep dives is 100x the fan than me and has never played
@_monkey_D_larp that defies the definition of being a fan. engagement isnt just doing, its observing and partaking in discussion surrounding what you like and knowing what the art is about.
@_monkey_D_larp also emulation is also a privilege*^. some people only have phones as a necessity and arent gonna risk their shit just to play a game. its unrealistic.
@_monkey_D_larp im not arguing against immersion, i believe games will move you more if you do buy it and play it yourself, but thats an insane privelege and people do what they have to to get by in life and i dont think experiencing a game you like by a third party like a youtuber is larping.
@_monkey_D_larp false equivalence fallacy. by viewing the playthrough or a no commentary run, you view it, thus you experience it. perhaps, not mechanically or gameplay wise, but you know the basis, you know the story, you know the characters, anything else?
its lowkey funny as hell cause all of this is over calling yourself a fan cause if any of yall gaf about the artist you wouldnt be promoing pirating LMAOOO
@The8BitzySpider@ikalawakan so whats your argument via visual novels. you just read. how can you engage with point click. you read words. you can do that with a video sound on to listen to soundtrack. be serious.
@The8BitzySpider@ikalawakan you literally proved me right by this alone because not everyone is going to emulate lmaooo. i am able to because i know how torrents work and have the tech to do so. most people dont have access to anything but their phone as a necessity you just come off as elitist
