Words matter.

Throughout history, authoritarian movements have often used language that sounds patriotic or reassuring while advancing policies that critics argue have very different effects.

I believe one of the most important ways to resist undue influence is to look beyond slogans and ask: What does this policy actually do? Critical thinking begins when we evaluate actions, not just branding.

Cult leaders and authoritarian movements often rely on emotionally charged messaging to shape public perception. Whether it's MAGA, political propaganda, or misleading rhetoric, influence is most effective when people stop questioning and simply accept the narrative they're given.

That's why I remain hopeful. There are far more people who value democracy, integrity, and freedom than those who seek authoritarian control. But hope alone isn't enough. We must educate ourselves about voter repression, propaganda, and the psychology of undue influence so we can recognize manipulation before it takes hold.

No matter your political beliefs, learning how influence works is one of the best ways to protect your freedom of mind. When we understand the tactics of cult leaders, manipulative messaging loses much of its power.

I encourage everyone to study my BITE Model of Authoritarian Control and the Influence Continuum. These frameworks can help you recognize unethical influence in politics, religion, social media, and everyday life.
