@KianNoush6@Teachers__Unite In gr 5 or 6, I was told a chromebook would help my child tremendously. So, on our way home from that meeting, I bought one. Then they said she wasn't allowed to bring it to school in case something happened to it. Don't tell me it's all about what is best for the kids.
@JagVillani Find any example of a place where cars traveling straight through pass on the right side of a right turn lane in an intersection. There is a reason why road vehicles don't do that, signal lights or not.
@chrisrussellca@CTVToronto I followed one in the rain last Wednesday morning doing 45km/hr on the Queensway. It was salting ahead of the ice storm. I appreciate that but my 8 yr old fwd Escape can still manage the speed limit, even when it's raining.
@OttawaCitizen This is an impractical idea. The criteria of what constitutes as "offensive" is completely subjective. It ultimately equates to regulating thoughts and emotions. While I don't approve of hate speech, the slippery slope of censorship isn't better.
@SamHersh01@OTeacher321@OCDSB@OttawaCitizen@joannelaucius@OttawaPolice It is very presumptuous of you to think that you can speak for "the majority of parents". You are fully entitled to your opinion but you don't get to speak for me, or any other parent, on matters relating to my child, regardless of whether I agree with your position or not.
@SamHersh01@OttawaPolice What do you want the police to be? If a thug is shooting at other thugs in the social housing project you built at the end of my street, I don't feel like a blend of psychologist/medic carrying a soothing white noise machine is the kind of first responder I want protecting me.
@SamHersh01 That's a bit like saying that there are humans with ideas in your movement. There is a term for people like you who use the actions of a few to decide you know who everyone is. Believing hospitals shouldn't be forced to cancel cancer surgeries isn't antisemitism.
@hfjohnsen @SamHersh01 Please define your idea of "free". What you are actually saying is that you want someone else to pay it for you. Some of the fare money also pays salaries. Are you suggesting we fire the maintenance and customer service staff so we can use their salary budgets to pay your fares?
@jessyroos No one is forcing you to enroll, so don't. Removing other people's option to enroll in a school that teaches their religion, is worse. It means you think that your opinion on someone else's choices matters more than their right to make their choice.
@theJagmeetSingh Instead of pointing fingers and blaming others, why don't you propose the new source of cash to infuse into our current system? Something that is not derived from tax dollars since those funds are already earmarked.
@Beardune I just had a pedestrian blindly walk out in front of me as I was sliding toward an intersection. The light changed and with head down, buried in a hood and not even a glance, out she came. She was perfectly centered in front of me when I barely got stopped. Completely oblivious.
@loriastinson@SamHersh01 Those get rich developer scams pay a lot of salaries. Hope Depot type places, forestry, trucking, manufacturers, sand and gravel quarries, admin support staff...even the nearby lunch and coffee places benefit. All while also generating tax revenue. That's how an economy works.
@ctvottawa There is no other option for crossing the river. Trucks have to go through downtown. The next bridge to the east is in Hawksbury or to the west, is Renfrew.
@abbyobenchain @DadChallengePod@nilikm Stop and think about that. Do you remember this being a problem before everyone was forced to wear masks for 2 years? No. We all had naturally occurring antibodies from exposure. Hampering your immune system's natural function is debilitating not beneficial.
@ctvottawa There is a case to be made for the current influx of viruses being due to high levels of masking and sanitizing for the past 3 seasons. Letting healthy people build back up their own immunities could be a way to avoid perpetuating this issue.
@fiioriera @DougFord_ON Kids are sick right now with all of the regular things they didn't develop normal immunity to while they were kept at home, masked and sterilized. Stop sending mundane illnesses like Strep A to the ER. Then they won't be so overwhelmed.
@SpearsBenjamin@ctvottawa Doctors and nurses are exhausted because no GP will see a patient that is sick. Everything from pneumonia, bronchitis and strep throat are forced to go to the ER. That's not a masking issue. That's an anxiety issue.
