A new report from the @ccpa reveals that Ontario’s education funding shortfall has continued to grow, reaching $6.4 billion since 2018.
The outcomes of these cuts have been:
➡️increased waitlists for special education supports
➡️under resourced classrooms
➡️aging infrastructure
➡️no reduction in class sizes
➡️anti-racism programs and additional supports for students from lower-income are eliminated
We can't fix schools without funding them.

On Tuesday, the Auditor General confirmed what parents, teachers, and education workers have been warning about for years.
This government is failing students with special needs. Somehow, they found $29 million for a luxury private jet, but continue to shortchange special education in Ontario.
Every child deserves access to a quality education and the support they need to succeed in the classroom - no matter their needs. #onpoli #onted

We just found out it cost Ontarians $190,000 to return Doug Ford’s luxury private jet. ✈️
While people struggle with the cost of living and our public services are stretched to the breaking point, this government continues to waste your money.
You deserve better. #onpoli
Public education is worth defending ‼️
We will be organizing, mobilizing, and working with school communities across Ontario to protect opportunities for students and families. Recent cuts in #Ottawa are a threat to our community.

NEW report from @OntAutism shines a light on what’s really happening in Ontario schools under the Ford government:
📍 1 in 3 special education students are not attending full school days
📍 50% of parents worry about their child’s safety at school
📍 21,000+ students are fully excluded from school
Students with special education needs are being failed by chronic underfunding and understaffing.
Ontario can do better.

Teachers and education workers across Ontario are coming together.
After a week of announcements that ignore underfunding, rising violence, and growing class sizes, our message is clear: we need real investments in our schools, not governance changes that miss the mark.

Today, Ontario's Education Minister said teachers are telling him to "keep it up".
I doubt they support firing teachers, cutting supports for high-needs schools, gutting special education, and paying Conservative-appointed supervisors $350k/year. #onpoli

This is one of the most pathetic announcements I've seen from Dishonest Doug. Shortchanging schools by billions, but here's a $750 gift card for some teachers to buy toilet paper and basic supplies that schools can't afford. #onpoli#onted

BREAKING: The Ford government is changing Ontario's Freedom Of Information act system, effectively gutting a tool journalists use to obtain documents related to government decision-making:
- The Premier, Ministers and their offices will all be excluded from the FOI system.
- This applies to all existing requests
- Only civil servants can be FOI'd
- The government is extending the response timeline from 30 calendar days to 45 business days.

@OSSTFD25TBU, “Budgets are more than financial documents. They reveal what a government truly values."
Publicly funded education, from early learning to post-secondary, is worth fighting for‼️ The office crew at D25 in #Ottawa stands beside all Ed sector workers today. #RedForEd
Incredible turnout at the #OSAPProtest today.
Students, unions, and allies united against Ford's attack on affordability. With grants slashed to 25% max and loans dominating, we're seeing what happens when you mess with students’ futures.
I'm ready to fight back.

Ontario’s five major education unions are united in urging the government to begin bargaining as soon as possible, to best support students, families, teachers, and education workers.
Schools are being stretched too thin.
Classrooms are overcrowded.
Supports for students with Special Education needs are lacking.
Violence is rising.
Staff shortages are growing.
Teachers and education workers see firsthand how underfunding is affecting students. Ontario’s publicly funded education system must be properly supported so every student has the supports they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
