Classroom conditions have deteriorated significantly over the past eight years, leading to high levels of teacher burnout, @etfopresident David Mastin told The @globeandmail.
"Whether youāre in downtown city centres, very densely populated city centres, weāre seeing the same thing: violence, unmet student needs, declining availability for specialized educators, barriers to accessing essential programs, insufficient resources, lack of early interventions. Our members are saying, āI canāt take this any more,'" Mastin said.

Ontario students were promised that mandatory e-learning would modernize education.
Instead, it has meant larger classes, fewer supports, reduced funding, and more barriers for many students.
Online learning can be a valuable option for some students. But it should never have been made mandatory for all.
Student success starts with strong, connected, properly funded in-person learning environments

Thousands of protesters accused the Ford government of privatizing public hospitals at a rally at Queenās Park on Thursday.
Given the governmentās significant investments in private clinics, I ask the health minister if Ontario is now operating a two-tier health-care system:
Today, education advocates, labour leaders, and parents came together to speak with one voice about the urgent need to tackle the harmful effects of extreme heat in schools across Ontario.
Thank you to Shadow Education Critic MPP @ChandraPasma , MPP @jamiewestndp , OSSTF District 14 President Chris Clarke alongside @OECTAProv , @ETFOeducators , and Parents for Childcare, for standing united in support of students, families, educators, and education workers.
With MPP Pasmaās private memberās bill, the Fighting Extreme Heat in Schools Act, 2026, we hope the Ford government takes meaningful action to ensure safe learning and working conditions for all students, teachers, and education workers during the increasingly hot summer months. #OntEd #PublicEducation
The TDSB is set to lose $6.4M in special education funding next year amid declining enrolment.
"We're in trouble" warn advocates, who say boards are already stretched thin & spending beyond provincial allocations to meet studentsā needs. cc: @GabeOatley https://t.co/0BVFESdp0g

Moments ago: Premier Ford wonāt commit to paying taxpayers back the $200K spent on private jet fees, calling the controversy an āold story.ā
He says heās already saved taxpayers āmillions of dollarsā by flying commercial over the years & only charters flights āwhen needed.ā
NEW from @TinaYazdani:
Education Minister Paul Calandra is defending his travel to an international conference after restricting trustees from using public funds to do the same. #OnPoli

Ford concerned about "saving taxpayer money" - HA! That is farcical.
In addition to costing taxpayers millions, Ford has gutted public services to suit his needs. Here are a few things you can thank his government for:
- partisan promotional road signs = $1.45 million
- $103.5 million ad spending āthe highest in Ontario history
-$225 million to terminate Beer Store contract 6 months early
- $1.35 billion for a vanity megaspa project at Ontario Place
- $4.8 million in legal challenges and costing billions in legal fees and retroactive pay

Peel is the latest school board hit by a Ford govt directive blocking livestreams or recordings of special education meetings. Critics call it a huge loss in access for vulnerable families https://t.co/YJcwg3tf9S
